You Only Live Twice: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

4.0 out of 5 stars Bond in Japan. And so is Barry's score!, March 10, 2000
This soundtrack has one outstanding point that makes it so good: All the great, memorable, themes! The soundtrack begin with the one that appears four(!) times in the soundtrack: Track nr.2 "Capsule in space". The song give's you a great feeling, it's so exiting and by degress "closing up". Listen to it, and you'll understand. The next theme is on Track nr.5 "A drop in the ocean", but this time it's action. It is a splendid action-theme and you never get tired of this one. Those themes themes are great, but just like in Goldfinger Barry also works alot with the main theme. In this soundtrack he does it in two songs, one great action-song and one very beautiful song. The tracks I am talking about are Track nr. 3 "Fight at Kobe dock-Helga" and Track nr. 7 "Mountains and sunsets". Let's begin with the first one. "Fight at Kobe dock-Helga" is devided in two parts, and it's in the "Fight in Kobe dock"-part that the main theme appears, and that's the actionpart of the song. It's work splendid. The other song, Track nr.7, is "Mountains and sunsets" and it is just so beautiful. In the film it's played when Bond and Aki are out with the fishing-boat and find the cave... In Track nr. 11 "Bond averts world war three" the first two themes I've managed get's puted together, and they make the best song on the score. In Track nr. 9 "James Bond-astronaut" and nr.10 "Countdown for Blofeld" "Capsule in Space" also appears. The three best songs: "Track nr. 3 "Fight at Kobe dock-Helga" , nr. 7."Mountains and sunsets" and nr.11 "Bond averts world war three". I love it. And so do many people.

3.0 out of 5 stars Barry's back-again, March 4, 2000
1983 Barry was back with Bond, he din't to the score to For Your Eyes Only. I must begin saying that I have the original soundtrack, so i have never hurd songs nr. 3. 6. and 9., which are bonus on the CD. This soundtrack is good. Real good. When you listen to it, it reminds you about Barry's work for "From Russia With Love". In those two soundtracks you have many dark and mystery tunes, which work splendide. In this album you also have a very good action-theme, which you hear for the first time on Track nr. 2: "009 gets the knife and Gobinda attacks". The theme returns in two more songs, "Yo-Yo fight and death of Vijay" and "Palace Fight". Good soft songs are Track nr. 8. "Bond at Monsoon Palace" and track nr. 10 "Bond meets Octopussy". In Track nr. 13. works Barry very good with his action-theme together with James Bond Theme. The three best songs: Track nr. 2 "Bond look-alike" Track nr. 12 "The chase bomb theme" and Track nr. 13. "Palace Fight". A traditional Barry score!

4.0 out of 5 stars Barry-varry varied., March 4, 2000
John Barry. He just is the master. At this time Barry were at his top as a Bond-writer. Together with "Diamonds Are Forever" and "You Only Live Twice" is this the best album of him. It's very varying and that's something good. He's action-songs are magnificent, just like in "YOLT". On this CD is it Track nr. 2 "This Never Happened to the Other Feller" and Track nr.10 "Battle at Piz Gloria" that is pure action-stuff. If you want a little more soft music, listen to Track nr. 3 "Try" (which I don't like) and Track nr. 9. "Over and Out"(which is great). But Track nr. 3 (as I already been mention) and Track nr. 7. "Journey to Blofeld's hideout" is not particularly good. But the rest of the songs fill them up. The instrumental Main Theme is also a real great one. The three best songs: Track nr. 2: "This Never Happened to the Other Feller", track nr 6. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and track nr. 10: "Battle at Piz Gloria". Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Barry Back in Action!, March 3, 2000
John Barry wasn't able to writw the score to "The Spy Who Loved Me", but now his back. Moonraker is a classic Barry-score. Many songs are very beatufil, like "Bond lured to pyramid", and a couple of them are tuff action, "Cable car and snake fight". In the end of the film they are in the space, and Barry's music to that is just great. (Track 2, track 6) In "Bond arriws in Rio and boat chase" returns The "007" theme for the last time, this time in a special way. Unfortunately it's only 30.51 minutes long, but that's not John Barry's fold. He composed more songs to the film then those who came along on the soundtrack. The three best songs: Track nr. 3: "Cable car and snake fight", Track nr. 6: "Flight to space" and Tarck nr. 7 "Bond arriws in Rio and snake fight". Please enjoy a medium good Barry.Bond-score!

4.0 out of 5 stars Barry's first, Barry's best?, March 3, 2000
This review is from: From Russia With Love (Audio CD)
This is the first James Bond album John Barry have been written. It's one of the best Bond-scores, but not quite The Best. The same theme appears a little to often, and most of the songs are to short. (Example: "Tania meets Klebb": 1.27. "Meeting in St. Sophia": 1.06) But it is a soundtrack that lives, and Barry really showes you how good he is already her, in his first album. The film, which is very thrilling, goes perfect together with the music. The music is very thrilling, and you get some action-songs to, whick is the exakt music that John Barry is best to write. The tree best songs: 3. "Meeting in St. Sophia" 5. "Girl Trouble" 9. "Death of Grant" If you like John Barry, you're definately gonna like this CD!
