5.0 out of 5 stars Black Flag Sequel or Prequel? Who Cares., November 30, 2014
Black Flag was a great game, and Rogue doesn't try to reinvent the Creed Wheel. That's what was lousy about AC3. This just gives more of what you loved about BF with a few extras, but still a unique story. The main character Shay is well-crafted and his journey is complex. The Templars are the good guys this time. If you look in history, the Templars were hardly negative. They were a Medieval group that financed people's trips and trade. The Catholic Church was jealous of Templar influence over people, so they spread false negative stories about them.

That being said, few things are more unnerving than the whispers of an Assassin hiding and ready to ambush you. The game also seems very short, almost like a DLC rather than a full game. They built an incredible colonial NYC but very little of the game takes place there. If you don't explore on your own there's few reasons to go to huge areas.

From a historical standpoint, I'm glad AC Rogue shines a spotlight on the 7 years war, a very interesting yet often forgotten about time period. This was a great game and any AC fan will enjoy it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why This Game is Lousy, June 13, 2014
This review is from: Assassin's Creed III (Video Game)
I'm a new AC guy. Just last Spring break I decided to try the first AC. Yes it was repetitive but loved it. AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations were each amazing in their own right and better than the last.

But AC III?? Just awful. Even after reading bad reviews on here I thought you were all just being haters but they were right on.

1. No Soul - this is the essence of why this game is lousy. I just never cared much about the storyline or characters. The fact that the main storyline appears HALFWAY THRU the game with a BRAND NEW TUTORIAL doesn't help at all. It just drags from there. Caring about the characters is so important, especially when you're doing a challenging mission. I actually was getting into the British guy before the big switch.

2. History - I'm actually a History teacher so was excited about the Colonial slant. The previous games felt like you were walking through historical cities witnessing cool events. In AC3, the history plays out like a Middle School kid's picture book. Very rudimentary. Look its the Boston Massacre - and an Native American boy is there too! Speaking of the Native American parts, it was all just so cliche.

3. Assassin Legacy - You have to ask yourself if this was not part of the AC series, would it stand alone? For me that's a big fat No. The whole Assassins/Templar thing actually seemed crowbarred in just to breathe some oxygen into the flatlining plot. If Ubisoft wanted to make a Native American themed hunting/action game they should have gone all in.

4. GTA IV syndrome - Remember GTA IV Liberty City/NYC looked spectacular, but the gameplay was lousy? Same thing here. Colonial Boston, the woods, the faces, it all looked incredible. But the gameplay is so plodding. I wonder if Ubisoft even tested this game with actual fans.

Finally, the best critique I've seen here is that the game ends up feeling like a chore to finish. But sorry life is too short. Quitting the game and watching the rest on YouTube was the best decision. I did want to see what happened to Desmond, the only compelling character in AC3.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy the Online Quizzes not the Book, April 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I just passed this test with a 73 using this book. The best help was the online tests and analysis, which are actually $1.99 extra when you buy this book. It's $9.99 otherwise. Its a good deal as the online tests and analysis are the best. If you already have a good grasp on US History, this will fill in the blanks. No review or test will take the place of reading and understanding. I could even see just getting the tests, googling what you don't know and putting it all on a list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Traveling Teacher's Best Friend, February 28, 2014

This rolling organizer has been a lifesaver for me. I have 2 classrooms this school year, both on different floors. In addition, the first couple of weeks I would go home with back pains because of carrying so many things everywhere. I got this and truth be told at first I got strange looks from students and teachers, one of whom noted my "Granny cart" (like the ones old ladies take to the supermarket.) But this thing has been perfect. It is supposed to be used on school floors. I see some people complained the wheels broke down on gravel going to their car. So don't use it like that and you'll be fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, No Bueno, December 10, 2012
The K cups for this hot chocolate are flimsy, leaking a lot on the machine and after you take it out - more than any other K cups. And I agree with other reviewers who say it just doesn't taste that good. Try another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun Workout, February 22, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Situation Workout (DVD)
I've been doing the Situation's Workout for over a month now. It's a great workout and there's been a noticeable improvement on my body. I always hated workout videos because of all the cheesiness of them. Everyone smiling. I compare this workout to if you were working out in a gym, you see a bunch of good looking people and ask them what they do, and they lead you through a rigorous but informal session.

These are very challenging exercises but doable for the average person. He has very funny banter with "The Unit" and a rotating set of girls who accuse him of trying to "kill me" with his hard workouts.

Yes its cheesy, yes Mike has an ego. But its also a real workout that's definitely worth it.

Sci-Fi 2012 Vintage Calendar
Sci-Fi 2012 Vintage Calendar

5.0 out of 5 stars Calendar for Your Geeky Self!, January 4, 2012
I got this calendar last year and happily ordered it again. This is the first time I've ever ordered the same calendar two years in a row. This was just such a fun one to look at. Every time you walk by you notice something different about the pictures. People really stop and ask about it, and it has nice big boxes in which to write all your activities. I'll admit I'm a geek when it comes to calendars and when it comes to sci-fi. This just satisfies all of my calendar desires.

2.0 out of 5 stars Apple App is Better, August 25, 2011
This review is from: GTO Tasks (App)
Very annoyed by this app. I heard about it on Howard Stern. The biggest problem is that it doesn't switch to landscape view on the Android. I always switch to landscape when I type things. IDK why you would say its compatible with Android when it doesn't even respond to landscape. Looks like they're very lazy over there and rushed this one through. I bought the same app for my iTouch and its way better on there. I wish you could return these stupid apps.

4.0 out of 5 stars From the Inside, April 5, 2010

Let's be very clear about this. This gentleman is telling black people what white people say about them behind closed doors. You might say it's racist, others might call it informative. Very likely, it's a little of both. He's saying what he's overheard and experienced during his life, and - yes - the generalizations that people invariably make about race etc. The fact is that these negative stereotypes exist. What is the response? Anger, violence and cursing unfortunately will confirm the stereotypes. But the knowledge of these opinions could get people to think twice about their actions. I know many African Americans who have said similar things about their race, and lamented about many of the things he mentions here. Those that buck the stereotypes have a world of opportunity waiting for them. This book could just be that message in a bottle.
