3.0 out of 5 stars Professional Session Musician's "Swing 'n Jive", November 10, 2012
This review is from: Swing N' Jive Christmas (Audio CD)
Solid professional not so much "jumping jive" swing - solid session musicians or a solid band you'd hire for a Christmas party. It's not really jive or swinging unless you've never heard jump swing jazz before or you think the local Holiday Inn band really rocks and swings. Basically musician hitting all the right notes and playing all the right notes as they are paid to do but NOT one bit of extra effort or soul. Not dull but essentially souless - it is what it is and as long as the disc is still selling for less than $4 - you get "lively" background music but not one ounce of extra effort not paid for by the record label.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Pop, Easy Pop, R&B Pop Tracks, November 10, 2012
A good but not as great as the first two in the series of Exotica, Lounge, Pop, Easy Pop, R&B Pop or Easy Listening Christmas/Winter tracks.

These are fine tracks but not as fun nor as great as the tracks on the 1st 2 in this series or the tracks as great as they are - Andy Williams performing It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - is available on a lot of other collections. So, a nice collection that mostly features more obscure tracks but compared to the first two - good but not great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Exotica, Lounge, Pop, Easy Pop, R&B Pop and Fun Tracks, November 10, 2012
Finally, a wall to wall great collection of Christmas tracks that's just plain fun - whether it falls under Exotica, Lounge, Pop, Easy Pop, R&B Pop or Easy Listening, it's all great and a great compilation that you can just throw in shuffle (along with the other two in this series, equally terrific). Of course, there aren't any "standards" on this collection - but if you want to round out your collection with tracks that are high on the hip quotent, with some so kitschy they are cool again or just plain great fun pop tracks - this is the collection to get or in fact the entire series!

Volume 1 is the best as it the most rockin' Motown tracks ...

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring Non-Christmas Sounding Tracks, November 9, 2012
This review is from: Kontor Christmas Chill (Audio CD)
Pretty dull - lots of noddling non-descript chill that is certain not Christmas Chill ... most tracks sound great- solid chill - but then the vocals start and it rapidly descends into muzak. There are a handful tracks worthwhile but not even what you would call a great chill track - hopefully this will be offered as a digital mp3 album and you can ust pick out the tracks you want.

3.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Christmas/Holiday Music For a Small Coffee Shop, November 8, 2012
This review is from: Happy Christmas Chill (Audio CD)
This is 100% innocuous Christmas/holiday music guaranteed to disturb no one at your cozy coffee shop - totally professional music performed by 100% professional musicians ... songs range from pleasant smooth jazz to innocuous "chill lounge" to new agey instrumentals. There are some tracks with vocal performances* - totally professional so that they do not veer into muzak or cloying but nothing to provoke anyone to really notice or look up from pecking on keyboards, reading a book or conversations. In most cases on the instrumentals, it's hard to tell they're even Christmas songs - most of them just sound like professional piano noddling. This is not a CD you'll ever put on to listen to - it's too bland for that but for a cozy coffee shop where you want some music to soften the mood but don't really want anything that rises above the din, this will do.

* Some of the vocal tracks might raise a head since the lyrics are traditional but the music is pretty unrecognizeable, it'll confuse people.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice "Hip" Collection of Christmas Tracks, November 1, 2012
About a 1/3 of the tracks are great and a fun addition to your Christmas tracks collection both for listening or as a party soundtrack ... about 2/3 of the tracks are okay as background fodder so you can either listen to the previews and pick out the tracks you like best or just grab the best tracks - it might be a better deal just to buy the entire CD ...

3.0 out of 5 stars It is What It is - Techno Christmas Songs, October 31, 2012
This review is from: Christmas In Clubland (MP3 Music)
My feeling is that techno Christmas songs are inherently kitschy - they have some value as background music at some event or used in some ironic sense so it's hard to really rate them as hardly anyone is going to sit down and listen through these or listen to them as pleasure - these songs serve a function to an event, a quasi soundtrack or something like that ... with that said, there are some decent and "useable" rendetions ... of course, now with a preview, you can pick out the ones that best serve your need - I found the following better: White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Auld Lang Syne and Daydream Believer (ok, no one's fav Christmas song).

3.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Corporate Pre-Event Soundtrack, December 21, 2011
First, this "album" has nothing to do with Winter or Christmas so if you were hoping for a loungey/exotica/chill Christmasy CD - look elsewhere. There are zero Christmas standards - even hidden under a dance track, no sleigh bells, etc, nothing - zero.

With that said. it's also not really a lounge CD you'd actually want to listen to. It's professional music that has zero personality. It's pure professionalism. It gives you a glimmer of hip but nothing that would fall under chill or even exotica that might give a hint of being different and that people might even notice - but it's not dull so people nod off like muzak, or truly unhip causing people to ask, 'what is this ****?"

The highlight of the tracks is SUNNY. It is totally professional without a hint of personality. It's perfect for a corporate pre-event as people are just showing up & checking in. It's got a quasi beat and even slightly hip ... for the hippest boutique hotel in Toledo. Then listen to a couple others tracks. There are a few that are duller than the others so it's a nice deal you can buy a handful of tracks - outside of SUNNY, they are pretty indistinguishable ... or if you need temp tracks for a family drama movie of the week you are scoring ... it's totally professional music without a hint of passion or personality ... it's certainly a useful and relatively inexpensive digital collection of tracks for corporate events, powerpoint presentations or 100% inoffensive music requirements ...
