2.0 out of 5 stars Sizing is horrible, December 20, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For the record, this is the first time I have ever written a review but I am very unhappy with the sizing. We initially bought the small size for our 8 year old. They were way to small and tried to gift them to his 5 yr old friend. They were also too small for him. We bought the Mediums since this is what he asked Santa for. The mediums fit me (a women's size 9). Very unhappy with the poor sizing. They are adorable and he loves them (of course), but will not work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can John Goodman redeem this if it's picked up?, May 1, 2013
I mean, honestly, he's great. But he's no Kevin Spacey. And Spacey doesn't have the unenviable task of carrying the political activism of his show's writers on 'House of Cards.'

Truly, I'm chomping at the bit for new House of Cards content. This? They'd need to "re-work" the tone and temper of this poo to get my attention. In my mind, this will always be a copy-cat that missed the mark unless they re-tool and downplay the overt Republican smearing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little product(s), April 26, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Starting off, this is actually TWO screen protectors. One for the large screen on the back of the camera (called the "monitor" in the manual) and one for the small screen on the top of the handgrip (called the "control panel" in the manual).

These are very precisely cut. I didn't notice that the control panel (small top window) wasn't rectangular, but they did. The short edge near the flash and hot shoe is straight, while the short edge near the camera strap lug is slightly convex. Don't put it on backward and claim it doesn't fit well.

These are not sticky. They do stay on surprisingly well though, as both screens are recessed slightly.

There are no markings on the film to let you know which side is the film and which side is the substrate or backing. I would recommend that you peel out the 2mm wide strip that is a bridge between the two films so that you get a good understanding of which side is up before you get everything cleaned and ready to apply the film.

****Four weeks in... no sign of these falling or rubbing off. Very solid product. There is poor review of this product here from a self-proclaimed expert with screen protectors where it is claimed that it is nearly impossible to put these on without air bubbles. I'm not very experienced and my installation is bubble free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't go bigger than 56's, February 26, 2013
This is a perfectly serviceable little unit. The foam inside is grey open-cell and the bottom is cut with 5 lengthwise troughs while the top is an egg-crate style. Don't think that you can fit five of anything in here, 56 is about as big as you can go and still fit 5 cigars. Also, with 6 inch cigars, like the toro or corona size, there are about 2 inches left on one side of the box--perfect for a cutter and a small box of wooden matches. Steer clear of the churchills and you have a grab and go cigar solution... quite handy.

Personally, this is my single solution humidor. I travel with it and store my cigars at home. (For me, the extra expense of a larger humidor negates the savings of buying a full cigar box of 20.) I usually substitute the 5th slot for a cigar sized propylene glycol humectant to increase time between "waterings". I also keep some cedar splints between the cigars (any good tobacconist will give you a few if you ask when buying cigars).

Why only 4 stars? When I bought mine it had some fit and finish issues. The big raised "XiKar" sticker on the lid was misplaced by a millimeter. It's sloppy and doesn't fit nicely in the recess in the plastic. The hinge-pin wasn't inserted all the way and was sticking out. I did manage to press it into position, but not without some effort. Both are issues that I wouldn't expect in a 5 star product.

3.0 out of 5 stars If everyday frustration is what you like..., December 13, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well, it's bright enough. Great. It's ugly too. Whatever. The fins are to manage the heat and cool the LED modules so they last. Understood.

The biggest problem I have with this torch is the multi-function button. 98% of all flashlights I have ever owned/used have had a button that has a positive on/off click and a momentary partially depressed "on" feature. That means that all those flashlights *could* be used to signal in Morse code. Partially depress those buttons and get a burst of light of varying length. Not here. Partially depressing the on-off button cycles between high power, low power, and senseless "strobe" mode. So, when you turn it on, it's a trickbag of whatever is next in the rotation. If you want the high beam 95% of the time to find something in the dark (I do), and you want low beam 5% of the time to light your path and navigate for an extended period of time, then the nausea and seizure inducing strobe mode popping up a third of the time begins to frustrate you. Grrrr. So, you get a random mode and no hope whatsoever of signaling with this flashlight.

And the "emergency" flasher? Well, it's red. Is that emergency enough for you? At this price point, it would be nice to see an *ACTUAL* strobe tied to those beefy triple C-cells. Something you can't ignore for changing a tire at the side of the road, perhaps? Even visible during the daylight? Nope, three LEDs powered by small button style watch batteries. Don't you DARE take the road flares out of your trunk because you carry this flashlight in your car! But the Life+Gear marketing people thought it was worth using the phrase "and used like a flare". I hope they don't get someone killed. Can't signal with the red light either. It cycles through an on-off-flash-off rotation. Anemic, if not pathetic.

It has nice solid construction and weight. It feels like quality. And CREE LEDs--a must for serious LED flashlights. (That should not even be a question at this price but unfortunately, it has to be.) The designers went off-script with the on-off button and made a good torch annoying. Congratulations, you tossed in a few capacitors, transistors, and resistors and made a flashlight into a flashinglight. It's not a great value, it's feature set is not especially compelling. Let's hope it's rock solid reliable and lasts like a family heirloom. That's the only x-factor that could redeem this purchase. Three stars is generous, but two stars is a bit harsh for a flashlight that works as designed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect drop-in, July 6, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The leads were a tad short for my oven, but the connectors were stolen from the failed hot surface igniter, so I just grabbed some extra wire from there as I spliced them together.

Ceramic wire nuts included, this worked perfectly. Make no mistake, this is the universal replacement for dozens of GE ovens and the connectors and wire length may not match your oven perfectly. But for just over $20-ish, this keeps her happy and delays the purchase of a new oven for very little scratch. Win, win, win.
