3.0 out of 5 stars Bright on ears, May 29, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Since I already have a few pairs of bulky around the ear studio cans, I decided to purchase these phones for portable use with my android phone (sensation 4g) and ipod touch 4g. It's been about 4 and a half months since I purchased them here on Amazon.

Design: Quality materials, but long term durability is questionable. Easily foldable for travel. Alligator skin-like material for the ear cups, surrounded by chrome accents. Would not trust this in a suitcase. 4/5

Comfort: On ear models typically aren't very comfortable for me, but these aren't so bad. The headband is light, made of ultra soft cloth; no pressure up top. Clamping force is a bit too strong and may cause headaches for large heads after an hour or so. Pleather ear pads are soft and cushy, but get hot and itchy after an hour. Overall, not bad; less comfortable than the bose oe2, however. 4/5

Sound: Bright and forward compared to studio monitors like the shure srh-440 or sony mdr-v6. Like all headphones, sound quality depends on the audio source. Through the android phone and ipod touch, the treble peaks at a very undesirable place; the bass is laid back, and the mid range is lacking in warmth. When listening to Heart's "Barracuda", the guitar solos and cymbals hurt my ears and cause fatigue quickly. The fiio e6 didnt help much, maybe opened up a bit more bass, but that's it. Basically the closed equivalent of a Grado, except since the design isn't open, the treble has nowhere to go and hurts your ears. Through my computer however, bass became more prominent, and much more punchy. The treble mellowed down, and ear fatigue became nonexistent. The mid range got a huge boost and also a boost in warmth. When plugged into the right source, these headphones actually become quite respectable and are a great alternative to the analytical, flat eq of a studio monitor. Problem is, I didn't buy these headphones for replacing my over the ears. I bought them for portable use, and in that application, they fail miserably. 3/5

Noise Isolation: Not very good. Being closed and considering the clamping force, one would think they could isolate better. However, noises are heard much easier than with over the ears. Noises are still audible even with music playing. 2/5

Extras: Packaging presentation is nice, and a nice faux-leather carrying pouch is included. No adapter for larger inputs; all you get is the standard 3.5 mm jack.

Value: all in all, these are good sounding headphones with decent comfort, but because of peaking treble and poor isolation, they fail at being good mobile cans. For good sound and isolation on the go, I recommend In ear monitors; for home listening, there are much better alternatives for this price (ath-m50, srh750dj, akg k271 mkii, etc.) 3/5

5.0 out of 5 stars MANDATORY FOR ALL SENSATION OWNERS, December 3, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Besides a turtle beach headset, this is the first review Ive taken the time to write on amazon. Let me tell you a story. I usually get about 5 to 6 hours maximum on the stock sensation battery. this is on and off my wifi network, playing a plethora of games, surfing the web, watching youtube, going on facebook, etc. the battery is usually completely dead by the end of the day. upon receiving the anker 1900mAh battery, i first drained the whole thing then charged it to 100 percent. took it off the charger at 9 am. it is currently 6 pm and the battery life is at 96 percent. NINETY-SIX PERCENT. This blows my mind. im shocked. awed. listen i dont work for Anker. im just an average guy who wants to inform everyone considering this battery to GET IT. absolutely mandatory.

5.0 out of 5 stars very impressed, March 31, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

this headset is a great value. for only 60 bucks, you get very high quality sound for both your ps3 and pc or mac. one noticeable thing is the weight. these are very, very light. most of the time i forget i even have them on! the mic is very high quality; reception is clear on both ends. things sound spectacular on the ps3, especially bad company 2. footsteps are loud, gunshots are powerful, and explosions are very articulate with plenty of bass. overall, a great headset and a great value.
