5.0 out of 5 stars ... for all Americans wanting to give their children a better nation for their future, September 9, 2015
The Cheneys give Americans a frank awakening to the situations brewing at home and aboard and the repercussions we can expect is essential reading for all Americans wanting to give their children a better nation for their future. Establishing a logical roadmap to bring us back to our Superpower status the Cheneys plan should be in the hands of the political pundits and elected officials running for the highest office in land. Dick and Liz give us the solution to solve the crisis we created for ourselves – we just have to be smart enough to listen to what they said and restore our nation back to its brilliance.

5.0 out of 5 stars New, fascinating and well written biography all avid history buffs MUST READ, May 11, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I thought I read enough biographies on James Madison to know all there was regarding our forth president. I have been happily been proven wrong and am enthralled with Cheney's James Madison: A Life Reconsidered. It is aptly titled as I find myself reconsidering previous views and opinions of Madison and regard him in higher and higher esteem as I turn the page. If you thought Dolly was the interesting member of the family dive in and discover a man whose ability and understanding of the bureaucracy are still unmatched today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Silly Sweetness wrapped up to benefit an amazing organization!, April 16, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My daughter has a joke in the book, which apparently makes her a published author! (Oh the minds of children!) Book is very sweet, entertaining and can occasionally even solicit a laugh from Mom and Dad! A great activity to share with your family where the TV can be off and each person can take turns telling jokes. Plus - it supports an organization dedicated to assisting families at their most emotional - when their children need medical treatment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A history we all need to remember!, September 17, 2008
If you need a reminder of why we have the ability for such polarized elections, allow people to shout inappropriate remarks about our elected officials or permit mud slinging so vicious we can't wait until the November election; Mrs. Cheney's "We the People" is what we all need to read.

Although a children's book, this book is a great history lesson for all ages to realize the difficulties our nation faced in its infancy. This non-partisan read is for people on either side of the aisle. Highly recommended for great learning with your children, grandchildren and even your spouse!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful history we all can learn from, September 17, 2008
As we enter into another heated political season, it is important to remember our history, to recall where we came from and to reflect on the sacrifices our forefathers made in order for us to sling mud at one another. Mrs. Cheney's new book, "We the People, The Story of our Constitution" gives us the opportunity to explain to our children and refresh our memories on how special our nation is and respect the determination of Washington, Madison and Franklin.

Beautifully written and illustrated -- a truly wonderful book for children, parents and all citizens of our nation!

4.0 out of 5 stars There are some crazy names, but good ones too!, May 5, 2008
This review is from: Cool Names for Babies (Paperback)
I bought the first edition when I was pregnant with our first child and found her name within the strange and weird. Our second daughters name came for the first edition as well. These names are WELL beyond the Jacobs and Emilys we know at least 15 each of. There are the strangest of the strange, Zell, and beautifully normal, Audrey and Wyatt. This book will definitely let you decide what you DO NOT want to name your child as well as what you could live with.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent view from the fence line, October 12, 2007
Lynne Cheney's self proclaimed "Valentine" to her home town of Casper, Wyoming is truly a captivating, inspiring and heart warming read.

For those of us in Generation X it is a detailed view of our parents' childhood - a time when the world encompassed your neighborhood and being respectful to others - despite race, creed or color - was modeled by all. At times the books demonstrates how far we have come as a society - the treatment of an unwed mother in the 50's versus the lessened social stigmas associated today - and how much we have lost since the glory post World War II days. Television was not the favored tool for rearing children in the 50's, it was the tool to bring families together to observe national events and celebrations.

Mrs. Cheney's writing is entertaining and at times quite humerous. It truly shows the 50's were a time that boys and girls could become whatever they set their minds and hearts too. It is an emotional story where we can all feel loss for those who are no longer with us.
