5.0 out of 5 stars Modern Day Prodigal Son Account, April 22, 2015
The Legacy is the fourth and final book in the Restoration Series. The books in the series, including The Legacy could be read as stand alone novels, but I recommend reading the series as a whole in order to gain the full experience with this family.
Gary and Dan have done an excellent job of probing into the depths of family dynamics. In this final book, the authors give a modern day picture of the biblical Prodigal Son parable. I have enjoyed getting to know the Anderson family and the siblings in particular. The authors' gift of storytelling is given to readers through well thought out characters and expertly woven plots with believable scenerios and genuine emotion. These stories have made me feel and have stuck with me long after the last pages have been turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read: Don't Miss It!, April 20, 2015
This review is from: Torn Asunder (Kindle Edition)
Alana Terry's "Torn Asunder" is a must read!
Currently raising funds for Liberty in North Korea's underground railroad, Terry has somehow found the time to pen a book that readers would be remiss to ignore. The characters are well developed and the plot is well planned. Terry certainly has a gift of sharing a story infused with gospel implications.Self-less and life-giving sacrifice on the behalf of another is a stand-out theme of the book.
You would be blessed by Alana's writing at her blog found at alanaterry dot com and following her on Twitter @AlanaTerryBooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Depth Resource for Study, April 20, 2015
This review is from: Against the Flow (Kindle Edition)
I'm not sure I have read a more compelling or relevant non-fiction title in quite some time. Constructed much like a text book for the classroom, Lennox's writing is concise and easy to follow. He expertly draws parallel's between Daniel's life and circumstances and our modern day lives and circumstances. He delves into a thorough fleshing out of scripture, history, culture (both past and present) and application for the present. With all the upheaval across our world, Against the Flow is a timely word for Christians who desire to walk by absolute truth while showing the love of Christ. This powerful resource should be on your bookshelf!

God, Me, and Sweet Iced Tea - Experiencing God in the Midst of Everyday Moments (Daily Devotionals)
God, Me, and Sweet Iced Tea - Experiencing God in the Midst of Everyday Moments (Daily Devotionals)
Price: $1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Moments with God, April 20, 2015
Sometimes we just miss it! We miss seeing God at work, because we are waiting for the fireworks and forget to listen for that still, small voice. Johnson reminds us to look for the goodness and glory of God in all things.
Johnson's devotional offers 52 reminders to consciously look for God in the midst of our days. He is there! Each devotional thought offers a thought by Johnson as well as suggested scripture readings, journaling considerations (with lines provided to jot down your own thoughts), a prayer focus and "Today's Sweet Tea Moment".
As a good ole Southern girl from Mississippi, I sure do love my sweet tea! I have enjoyed this little book that shares big gospel centered reminders of the beauty of God in the midst of our mundane and how He makes all things sweet.

Undone: A Story of Making Peace With an Unexpected Life
Undone: A Story of Making Peace With an Unexpected Life
Offered by HarperCollins Publishing
Price: $10.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A Picture of Real Hope, April 16, 2015
In Undone, Michele Cushatt shares candidly about the mess and chaos that has characterized so many parts of her life. The mess, which Michele holds nothing back in sharing has been great, but her God has been greater. She also holds nothing back in pointing to God and His grace as the sustaining thread that has held her life and heart together. Cushatt helps readers to evaluate their own life in order to find the diamonds of God's grace and mercy among the heartbreaks we suffer in a fallen and sinful world. She helps us have the eyes to see what is sometimes buried in the dark. And that is a gift we are blessed to have been given. Read this book and be encouraged to see God's hand and trust His heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Children's Ministry/Home School Resource, March 31, 2015
Torchlighters is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The first episode, The Jim Elliott Story, was first released in 2005. The series has grown into 13 episodes and reaches beyond the original target ages of children 8-12 years old.
I had my children view both The Jim Elliott Story and The Corrie Ten Boom Story. They were glued to both episodes. I was pretty amazed at the information that was packed into the 30 minute time slots. I really appreciated the exceptional animation of the episodes and the inclusion of real pictures at the end. The episodes were animated but did not shy away from the scary truth of the sacrifice of both Jim Elliott and Corrie Ten Boom. The episodes helped my children know about two real life heroes of the gospel.
I was provided with complimentary access to two episodes for the purpose of this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Challenged, Be Inspired!, March 21, 2015
This review is from: Halo Found Hope (Kindle Edition)
Helo Matzelle lives a very brave life through the strength and grace of God. Part of her bravery is evident in the transparent way she shares her journey in her book Halo Found Hope. The book contains Helo's journey peppered with scripture and quotes and shows the power of surrender to and trust in God.
The sovereignty of God is highlighted and readers are reminded of how God uses people and circumstances to transform us as Helo shares about the string of miracles that changed her life forever. The hand of God is clearly seen through her life. She encourages her readers not to give in to despair because of circumstances that could steal hope, but to experience victory despite of them by leaning on God's grace.
Read Helo's story and be not only inspired, but challenged to live life differently.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Perspective...Don't Miss IT!!!, March 17, 2015
Mesu Andrews has a gift of taking God's Word, historical fact and creative fiction to produce stories that draws readers' hearts and minds to transforming biblical truth. When I read her books, I am driven to search out the Scriptures for the truth she is portraying in them.
In her latest book, The Pharaoh's Daughter (book one in the Treasures of the Nile series), one of the overarching themes is this:
"Fear is the most fertile ground for faith."
Mesu tells the story of Moses through the eyes of Pharaoh's daughter and by doing so, she brings a brand new perspective to the biblical narrative. What I appreciate most about Mesu's writing is how she holds God's Word in high regard. Her artistic liberties do not in any way change or take away from the truth as it is revealed in Scripture, but makes readers think about how to apply God's truth to their current life and circumstances. I came away from The Pharaoh's Daughter with a renewed faith and understanding of the heart of God toward me as His own child in the midst of some of my own fears.

Mesu's books are rich in detail and character development. Her thorough research is evident in how she transports the reader to a different time and place. Her writing is hard to put down once started. You will be blessed by The Pharaoh's Daughter and by connecting with Mesu!

Deadly Echoes (Finding Sanctuary) (Volume 2)
Deadly Echoes (Finding Sanctuary) (Volume 2)
by Nancy Mehl
Edition: Paperback
Price: $9.86
61 used & new from $3.74

4.0 out of 5 stars Really Good Suspense!, March 15, 2015
I became a big fan of Nancy's stories reading the Road to Kingdom series. Deadly Echoes is the second in Nancy's new series Finding Sanctuary. The romance thread in this story felt forced to me and the dialogue between Paul and Sarah was stilted at times. With that said, Nancy's suspense and mystery is spot on! The twists and turns and revelations throughout the book kept me turning pages. I found myself repeatedly thinking, "Wow...didn't see that coming." Every time I thought I knew what was going on, Nancy threw in a twist. Be ready to read this one in one sitting because you won't be able to put it down.

One Last Thing

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuine and Real, March 12, 2015
This review is from: One Last Thing (Kindle Edition)
Rebecca and Nancy have written a story that shines a brilliant light on an issue that is prevalent in our over sexualized culture. This isn't a neat and tidy story. The voices are genuine and the emotions experienced are raw and painful. The authors have done an exceptional job of portraying real, lived-out faith, tried and tested trust along with a realistic picture of the ugly damage of pornography on a relationship. But, in the midst of the hurt, Rebecca and Nancy show the beauty of soul-honored friendship that holds one up and urges one on toward health and healing. Tara's discovery of her "Watch" group of friends was one of my most favorite threads in the story. We all need a group of friends like this!
I also appreciated that the authors gave a plausible behind Seth's addiction while still showing his need for taking personal responsibility and ownership in order to truly heal. The transformation Tara goes through spiritually was superbly developed by the authors and portrayed in a genuine manner that didn't feel forced. End the end, hope and redemption reigns above the ugly.
Sometimes when life presses in...all you can do is the next thing.
You don't want to miss this true to life portrayal!
