A lot easier (don't understand the negative reviews)
, March 12, 2012
I was hesitant to get this for my 5 yr old kid because i know how hard MLB show games are to hit (even in rookie mode). But when we first loaded this game up........It asks if you have ever played MLB show games before and recommends an easy setting right when you start. By looking through the settings there is now a BEGINNER mode and it makes it almost like arcade. Even so much that the fielders do the work, my kid just one button pitched without a meter. I set it all the sliders to his advantage and his first game was Rangers/Cubs and he won 12-1 with 18 hits. I have read a bunch of reviews now on 12, and not once has anyone brought up the fact that there is a beginner mode now even below rookie. My kid swings at everything, since of course a 5 yr old has no patience, so he struck out quite a bit, but he was able to get 4 HR too. Its easier so i don't know where these negative reviews are coming from. You can still get blown away in higher settings but it can be set for an easy or easier mode. The beginner mode is almost like one button mode in NCAA 11 that we have. Yes you have to spend time setting up the game and adjusting sliders but all video games take time to figure out. (This review is mainly about the easy mode and not any other settings which i assume make the game more realistic---the graphics are much better than previous versions)
He also played the Rangers against a minor league team and I had to quit the game because he was winning 12-0 in the 2nd inning.
The motion control is fun but it still needs to be developed more in the future for game play.
I give it 4 stars cause they over sell the motion control feature, its still better with standard ps3 controls.
