5.0 out of 5 stars A nicely done framework for understanding memory and prediction, August 18, 2011
This review is from: On Intelligence (Paperback)
As a neuroscientist, I found this book to be an illuminating synthesis of several research threads in the field. Indeed, the idea that memory exists for the purposes of prediction goes back to Galen, but many ideas require new glue and new reminders in each generation, and Hawkins has done an excellent job here of distilling a simple and powerful framework.
Some people have criticized Hawkins for including personal anecdotes about his life and career in the book; I think that counts as a plus, humanizing the reader's experience.
