1.0 out of 5 stars Pickup dates changed, November 30, 2014
This review is from: Sweet Utopian
Vendor changed the terms of the voucher and removed the date I had planned to pickup on. Amazon does not offer refunds after 30 days. Would be nice if the voucher worked with Homegrown Co-op, instead of just Mills 50 Community Market.

1.0 out of 5 stars "Kindle" version not actually compatible with Kindle (or most other devices), November 16, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I own over three dozen vegan cookbooks on the Kindle format. I have never had an issue until this book. This book is NOT formatted for Kindle. It is little more than a photocopy of the print book, making it virtually unreadable on electronic devices. On a Kindle, it cannot even be downloaded. On tablets and smartphones, it can be downloaded, but all features in the Kindle software are disabled and the text is too small to read and unable to be zoomed. PCs are the only device this "e-book" can actually be viewed on, but that is all you can do, view it. All features normally associated with Kindle books (bookmarking, searching, etc.) are nowhere to be found. Again, this is basically a cheap photocopy of the print book, instead of a real formatting to be Kindle friendly. I am sure the content of the book is great (I love the original Sexy Vegan cookbook on Kindle), but whichever publisher handled this book should be fired (it is bad enough the Kindle version was released months after the print version). I am sad that such a promising book by one of my favorite vegan chefs was ruined by poor decision making.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version has everything corrected, August 21, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Get the Kindle version! The error corrections have already been made and you can save a tree at the same time. There are a TON of recipes in this book. If you are a fan of the first book, you can't go wrong with this one. The people behind Forks Over Knives know what they are doing when it comes to plant-based recipes. No processed, unhealthy, or exotic ingredients. Just natural, whole, yummy plant-based foods!

3.0 out of 5 stars Dead on arrival, December 15, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a good product (when it works), but I had the same problem as some other reviewers in that one of the two timers was dead on arrival. The screen was half broken. I could only see the last digit, making the timer completely unusable. Too much effort to send back such a cheap item, especially when I have one that works and I don't want to return both. Quality control needed on this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars PHENOMENAL!!!, November 22, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Why have more people not reviewed this? The Lady Killer is one of the most amazing albums I have heard in years. I am usually a rock music type of person, but I can make an exception for this album. All of the songs are very catchy and very well done. The whole thing has a very strong retro / Motown vibe. Just listen to the song samples and you'll be hooked. Give this one a try, even if you don't normally like the hip-hop genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why did they change the packaging?!?, August 29, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you're like me and randomly break out in hives, these strips are a lifesaver. I have carried around packs of these things in my pocket for the last few years. At the first sign of itching or allergies coming on, I pop a strip into my mouth, which dissolves in seconds and starts working just as fast. These are great for public situations where you can't get away to take a pill (or if you don't like taking pills).

That said, Benadryl recently changed the packaging for these strips. They used to come in a very slim and handy plastic carrying case that you could stick right in your pocket and carry around. Now they come in a somewhat larger cardboard box, which is not as portable. It would be fine for a woman's purse, but it is not fine for a man's pocket! Why the change?!?

That said, I still give these five stars because the strips themselves are an absolute miracle and I hope they never stop making them. They are worth every penny! I still have one of the plastic carrying cases and I will continue to use that. I will take the individually wrapped strips out of the box and put them in the case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the first album, October 30, 2007
This review is from: This Is Forever (Audio CD)
She Wants Revenge fans will be happy to know that the new album is even better than the first one. While many will say that This is Forever is just more of the same, I personally believe that the beats and sound effects are much improved. This album has a noticeably faster tempo and the songs are catchier and flow together well. There really is no bad song in the bunch - other than the unnecessary introduction track - and the length of the album is just right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great U.S. Release, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Into the West (Audio CD)
Before Into the West, Pilot Speed (formerly known as Pilate) released two albums in Canada. This release has all the songs from the second album MINUS one song PLUS two of the best songs from the first album. I think this is the perfect release. Not only is Pilot Speed music now available in the U.S. (and at a super low price), but you get the best songs, in my opinion.

I only cared for a few of the songs from the first album, and most of those made it onto Into the West. Nearly all of the songs from the second made it and the one that didn't is not a big loss.

Do yourself a favor and give this underrated Canadian band a chance. You won't regret it.

For the record: my favorite Pilot Speed song is Alright (which is on Into the West as well as the first album).

5.0 out of 5 stars Radiohead's Best Album?, February 21, 2007
This review is from: Amnesiac (Audio CD)
I don't understand the bad rap for this album. Amnesiac is an amazing achievement. While I don't recommend this album to newcomers, I do think that every real fan should have this one in their collection.

The harsh ratings are what kept me from listening to Amnesiac for so long. I decided to buy it recently and now I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite Radiohead album. Everything is just done right and there really is little-to-no filler.

Do yourself a favor and give this one a chance. Different does not always mean bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice casual read for devout fans, February 20, 2006
Lost: Endangered Species is the first in a series of Lost-themed novels. It's a very easy read and can be finished in a few hours (I read it in one sitting). Each book in the series follows a specific character. These characters aren't major Lost characters, but instead are meant to represent minor characters in the background of the show. If you've ever been interested to hear about the lives and struggles of those characters in the backdrop of the usual happenings on the TV show, you may be interested in the Lost series of books.

This first book follows the life of a young woman named Faith, who is an environmentalist. She is one of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Each chapter in the book switches between Faith centered flashbacks and happenings on the island. Characters from the TV show, such as Hurley, Claire, Michael, Jack, Kate, etc. are part of the story, yet they for the most part play only very minor roles. If you are looking for more insight into the show's main characters or the island's mysteries, it would be best to look elsewhere. The books are meant only for entertainment purposes and do not provide any clues to coincide with the show.

The island portion of Endangered Species takes place during the first few days of the plane crash. It's more of an introduction to the series, rather than a complete story in and of itself. The island portion is moderately enjoyable, though many may find the character of Faith to be whiny and annoying at times. On the other hand, I thought the flashbacks were pretty good. While they start out somewhat slow, the end result is satisfying.

If you're both a devout Lost fan and an avid reader, Lost: Endangered Species is a decent casual read. While the reader reviews aren't too high for this one, I enjoyed the book for what it was. I wasn't expecting much. It might be just the fix you need during those long breaks between new episodes.

Some side notes: Though Kate is on the cover of the book, she doesn't play a large role in the story at all. The second book is supposed to be more exciting and mysterious. I haven't read it yet, but you may want to check out that one too. The third book is being written by a different author than the first two. It will be out in March.
