4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent stories, but..., March 29, 2014

I really enjoyed both books and look forward to #3.

However (in case you read these reviews), please make a note that ('s) at the end of a word does not make it plural...it signifies ownership or possession. "Russian's" could be used as in "The Russian's gun", not "The Russians are coming". The 's is also sometimes used as a contraction ("The Russian's coming...", in the place of "The Russian is coming"), but NOT as a plural.

"Their" in the place of "They're", "Than" in the place of "Then" (and vice versa) are a bit irritating and painful to the brain, but nowhere near the constant " 's" plurals.

End of rant.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story, but..., October 29, 2013

The story is enjoyable if you can get by the British English being spoken by Californians and the numerous factual errors (the 2 that strike my memory best are reference to the "border of California and Washington" and San Diego called the largest city in Calif and the second largest in the nation...Los Angeles is the largest city in CA and Chicago is the second largest in the US, with LA 3rd).

"Lorries" and "People Carriers" being driven around Salinas and many other Britishisms in conversation are pretty crazy-making.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well made.., July 20, 2013

I was hesitant to make the purchase due to reviews stating that it was difficult to put up and not well made. Once I received it, I found it to be made much better than the shades I had used before and, as a result, easier to set up. While the slanted legs make the actual shade smaller than the advertised size, they also make it sturdier and less likely to be carried away by the wind. The wheeled storage bag is also a plus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buying a second one..., July 9, 2012

Bought one a few weeks ago in spite of some reviews that were less than I expect from Sony. I am glad I did...Sony quality comes through again in a unit that costs less than $100. First one went in the motorhome and it took one trip to decide that I wanted one in my basement rec room. Most impressive is the unit's ability to play without so much as a skip CDs that are scratched to the point that I had taken them out of the car to throw them away

5.0 out of 5 stars A "End Of The World As We Know It" Classic..., December 19, 2010

This review is from: Lights Out (Paperback)
I'm another internet reader who waited (semi) patiently for publication. A great story that will grab you whether you normally read this genre or not.

The scenario is an uncomfortably possible one and will make you think about how you live your life and what you would do if suddenly the lights went out there was no electrical power for our very powered world.

It is realistic enough for the most devout "prepper", but entertaining, exciting and non-technical for the casual reader. Two copies helped make my Christmas shopping easier...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, February 25, 2010

I just finished my first reading of the book and have begun the second.

I have been reading and recommending Ms. Jackson's writings on her website , The Cornered Cat, for a while now and expected a good read, but she has truly outdone herself here. This is possibly the best book on the defensive mindset that I have seen.

I recommend this book to anyone who owns a firearm, is thinking about owning a firearm or even who wonders why a reasonable person would wish to carry a handgun.
