2.0 out of 5 stars Fallout 3 Expansion ... with extra bugs!, October 21, 2010
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fallout: New Vegas (Video Game)
Yes, this is not a new or improved Fallout game but instead a large expansion for Fallout 3 with a few game play enhancements and a boatload of new bugs. I regret buying it for $60, if you are a Fallout 3 fan (as I am) I would advise you wait for a few patches and expansions and the price to drop - you're not missing out on anything too great. My main complaints are the frame rate stuttering, Xbox freezing glitches (average of 2 per hour), add to that in-game problems with everything from bullet time VATS (bullets often hang in mid air and then disappear)to messed up storyline problems due to software defects and it all adds up to only a semi-enjoyable experience. Fallout 3 runs fine on my Xbox, this is the same engine, why couldn't they at least meet the old standard? The characters and plot are OK but the the "New Vegas" world is pretty boring and repetitive, lacks a great deal of the graphical variety and detail of Fallout 3. I'll finish it but I'm far more bored with it after a couple days than I should be - Fallout 3 was much better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lite Baconnaise is pretty tasty!, August 11, 2009
This is more like a flavored spread than a true mayo replacement, I would not advise using it in Potato salad or tuna fish. It is very tasty as a veggie dip and as an admittedly rich burrito topping.

1.0 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY! Dont't waste your $ or time ..., August 7, 2009
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Hearts of Iron 3 - PC (Video Game)
I'm a hardcore grognard who has been a big fan of this series for sometime but this latest iteration is just terrible, the worst yet and that is really saying something since both HOI1 and HOI2 were deeply flawed when first released. The game is boring and generic in appearance, about as much fun as scrolling across google earth for hours upon hours while the game time slowly (even at max acceleration!) winds down. Starting the 1936 scenario means that even playing at max speed you will sit and stare for at least 4-6 hours before you approach 1939 and the War. Be prepared for shocking map glitches (Stalingrad on the Caspian Sea!?!?!) and massive mexican invasion flotillas disgorging their soldiers into Northern Germany ...

The game is hardly a graphical masterpiece but it demands a full on 256mb+ GPU - so you need a high end laptop or decent desktop to play it - a good rule of thumb is this: If you paid less than $1000.00 for your laptop and it's more than 2 years old than abandon hope of running this game. If your desktop machine is relatively cheap you'll most likely have to upgrade your graphics card - and all this trouble to run a game which is essentially a 2D map and text.

Paradox has a history or "releasing" games that would barely qualify as "beta" for most other game designers. Don't waste your money and be disappointed now, if this game ever attains playability it won't be for many months and after many patches, might as well wait and buy it cheaper then.
