5.0 out of 5 stars Read this and you run out of excuses, October 6, 2012
Brad's book pretty much eliminates every excuse your community might have for not having a great startup EcoSystem. Not enough capital? Not enough good startups? No University close by? All these are addressed and should inspire you to get out there and get involved. Give before you get, and stop coming up with reasons why your city isn't a startup utopia. Find out if you're a leader or a feeder get busy and maybe with some hard work in 20 years it will be what you've imagined.

4.0 out of 5 stars Audio and Kindle readers, December 15, 2009
First off if you have purchased the audio book or the Kindle version the author has created a scan of all the graphs for us. You will find them at the [...] book under the link "game figures"

I really enjoyed the audio version of this book and thought it brought the same easy to understand narrative to game theory as books like predictably irrational did for behavioral economics. The book is more of an intro to the idea rather than a how to although the author does provide some cool tools on his website. The ideas in his book work for big decisions or geo political issues more than why did I buy a coke instead of Pepsi type decisions. Really the book will just create in you a desire to learn more about how game theory might apply in your situations, and gives you a new way to think about how people act in the face of different incentives.

The only downside (besides the new way I now see people) is that Mr Mesquita claims it's all numbers and science. I would argue that there is a fair amount of "art" to creating imperial numbers that represent how much "influence" a person has, or how committed they are to a position. So without a lot of research and understanding about the problem one might miss very important incentives for people. All and all though a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, fun, practical, June 8, 2007
OK how many people have video cameras that sit around, never get used becuase of batteries, tape, lugging it around etc, etc. Then IF they take videos they never watch them becuase it's too much trouble. Enter the flip. If you love your digital camera then you'll love this. I took my first video WITHOUT removing it from the package! That's how easy it is. It uses standard AA batteries and I've plugged it into 3 computers to play or download videos without any problems. All the software is contained on the device so there's no CD to install. I have the 1 hour model which is all anyone really wants to ever see of one event anyway. This will do for video what the digital camera did for photos.
