5.0 out of 5 stars Poet's Life Revealed in her Lost Poetry and Prose, August 1, 2009
Of course I think the book is worth five stars! That's how I would rank Miss Boulton's poetry after all. Poetry carefully created and never overblown with verbiage or false sentimentality. She was a wonderful writer.

Legacy of a Singular Life is a compilation of the poetry, essays and stories of Miss H. Almeda Boulton. If she loved anything it was nature: the innocence of trees, the joy of the bird, the mischief of a squirrel, the mystery of weather, the history of the rock or mountains and seas. She lived her life watching, recording what she saw into her quick, inquisitive mind. Her poetry relates her observations without the frills of romanticism or obscurity and rings with a clear truth.

Miss Boulton died at 96. Here for you is her life as she revealed it through her poetry, diaries and conversations with Mrs. George. The narrative that accompanies her work tells the story of how and why this beautiful book was created. Even though she came to know her during the last few years of Almeda's life, one can sense the author's high esteem and deep respect and love Mrs. George felt for the sometimes primly cantankorous Miss Boulton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scanner does the job and does it really well., March 5, 2009
I love this scanner. Easy to use and understand for a computer novice like me. Thanks for a good product. Would recommend for the price. Of course you can always go fancier and more technical, but this one does the job and I love the results.

5.0 out of 5 stars An adventure into the mysteries of human relationships..never boring., July 26, 2008
This review is from: A Cleansing of Souls (Paperback)
Mr. Ayris has given us a psychological trip though the minds of his characters. While not the easiest book to read, it is "Cormac McCarthy-like" in many ways. The evil and good of each person lies just behind carefully drawn facades... not allowing a clear picture of these unusual personalities. There is no easy answer to the mystery he is setting up. What happened to Little Norman? Who is Laura? We not only read about evil behavior, but witness human frailty when confronted by evil. We don't learn until the end whether the particular soul of the character will be won in the final analysis by good or evil. A complex set of relatonships all oddly intertwined to keep one reading and searching for answers. He draws it all together for a satisfying end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the mental challenge of travel over the landscape and hidden recesses of the human condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read to enjoy...learn at the same time!!!, July 21, 2008
This wonderful book does double-duty. It is a masterfully presented collection of the creative writings and poetry of the students of Margo LaGattuta. Created to use as a teaching/learning aid, it has become beloved (by those lucky enough to get a copy) just for the enjoyment of the stories, insight into their many different walks through life and the obvious thrill these new authors experienced taking part in the writing process. I would encourage its use in creative writing classes and assure everyone, it is just plain an inspiring and enjoyable read from start to finish, whether you wish to write for yourself or not. Suggest it to your Book Club group. My dear book club friends talked about it for an hour!!! Bravo to Margo and these courageous authors who were willing to share so much of themselves. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Counting....all things fun and funny., October 10, 2007
Here she goes again, wonderful images and writing that kids love. Makes counting fun. I thought there could be no more "counting books" that would be any different than all the hundreds of others....I was very much mistaken. Laurie, again, has her own unique way of expressing things and her sense of humor and wit always comes through. You can always depend upon her books to entertain and educate everyone from little kids to grandmas like me. Loved the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laurie offers us manners with unique clarity., October 10, 2007
Little late getting this delightful book. Showed it to my grandkids and read it myself...carefully so's not to miss anything. I like the sweetness of these characters and Laurie's ability to bring her message with fun in mind, but keeping the lesson true and easy to understand. Nothing to dislike in this wonderful book. Her great talent just grows and grows. It is fun that she always puts one of the characters from her previous book in the new one. Did you find it? One of Grandpa Gazillion's numbers dropped in to say, "Doo dee doo!" We are looking forward to more life lessons from this artist/writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging viewpoint from young man's heart., January 9, 2007
His sonnets are wonders as if from another age, another time. Yet they flow from his pen with clarity and perfection. Interspersed are free verse poems that somehow seem to belong right as rain with this old world perfection. If he protects his meaning sometimes, for he writes without the foolish sob of angst, the verses will always conjure up an emotion personal to your own heart. He is an undiscovered genius.
