5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to read about life in 8th century Europe, March 20, 2013
Judy Ferro has captured life in 8th century Europe through the eyes of Agnes, a kitchen helper, who rises above the common lot of women in her time to become a scribe. Agnes is a subject of the kind king Korolus who provides the means for Agnes to aspire to an occupation meant only for men. Ferro puts her extensive knowledge of history in the time of Charlemagne on display in her novel, which is great reading for students and casual readers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational stories about the power of faith, March 20, 2013
Author Sheila Eismann's "Stirrings of the Spirit" is a collection of stories based on true events in the author's life. Reading her stories that include the pain of facing the possible death of a child and a husband, I am reminded of the true story of a little girl whose faith was untarnished by the possibility of doubt, so that when her valued bicycle disappeared, the little girl's first instinct was to pray about it. When the child confidently announced to her father that every thing was OK, because God was going to find her bicycle, the father was dismayed, knowing that it was too much of a stretch. Not at all. A miracle occurred and a little girl's prayer was answered when the father happened to pick up an outdated newspaper. A story about a man who had escaped from law enforcement in his community had caught his eye. A number of area and out-of-area newspapers had covered the high-profile story, but the outdated paper was the only one that included a minor detail; in his attempt to escape, the man had taken a child's bicycle...the little girl's bicycle. As in the little girl's case, Eismann's no-room-for-doubt approach to life results in a collection of amazing, uplifting and inspiration stories with miracles to spare as she shares how to listen to the stirrings of the spirit and find the messages that God and the angels send. Eismann's stories are liberally sprinkled with her sense of humor that perseveres, even in the face of pending, personal disasters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for young children, October 6, 2011
This children's book is great as a read-aloud-book for children or as a book children can read for themselves. The title fooled me, and I was plesantly surprised to discover that the theme of this story was how caring for one's child begins long before birth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great informtion for those unfamiliar with using social media, March 23, 2011
Dennis J. Smith's book de-mystifies the process of using social media as a tool to promote one's business. Smith's book is written for the novice, but also has information an experienced user will find helpful.
