1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING!, July 27, 2009
WARNING. The titled author reports this book as a little bit disjointed. One reviewer points out that the foreword author that stated he gave up fly fishing shortly after reading this book. That reviewer reports that had he read this book before taking up fly fishing, he would not have taken up fly fishing. Another reviewer reports that he got tired of reading descriptions of clouds. I read this book and found it incoherent. I am a book lover, and once undertaken, I invariably read a book to the end. So, I plowed on, much to my chagrin. I was puzzled. What was this guy trying to say? Well, nothing. I did some research on Harry Middleton. Much to my shock and surprise, I found that he was reported to be bi-polar, maniacally depressed. When he lost his job as an editor and finished this book, he took his own life. His publisher went on because Harry left a wife and kids. What else do you have to know. If you want to make a contribution to Harry's kids' education, send it to his publisher with instructions. In any case, go read John Gierach. Nother he write is a waste of time. Walwyn M. 5.0 out of 5 stars Streamer Fishing, July 27, 2009
Kelly Gallup is the go to guy when it comes to Rocky Mountain Trophy Brown Trout fishing. If your coming anywhere out here in the Greater Yellowstone Area to fly fish, you owe it to yourself to get and study the book by Kelly and Bob Linneman, the primer Michigan guide, and also Kelly's DVD's on streamer fishing, finding "soft" water, particularly during runoff, which this year has extended into August. Also, you need to look at Kelly's streamer "system", how to tie and use streamers, in colors and shapes when working a trout river or stream, particularly when there is no dry fly hatch in progress. This stuff is practical, thorough, makes sense, and works. I use his methods on the Snake and Wind rivers and in the lakes of the Wind River Mountains. It really works if you want that big fish. 5.0 out of 5 stars Fly fish Yellowstone Country, October 27, 2008
This small handbook is out of print, and a volume 2 will be available by Spring. The authors, Mathews and Jurasek of Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone, Montana, are the primary authorities on fly fishing in and around Yellowstone National Park. Armed with this book and with Mathews and Molinero's small guide entitled "The Yellowstone Fly Fishing Guide" and a Wyoming highway map, you'll be fully prepared for a day, a week or a season in Yellowstone Country. Bring a camera, rain gear, waders, and a 5-6 weight rod and reel, some bug spray, some bear spray and a few cow bells, and you are off. Walwyn Trezise, Dubois, Wyoming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confronting Racism, October 4, 2007
This review is from: Reservation Blues (Hardcover)
Alexie at his best. With humor, irony, and compassion, this novel mirrors the hopelessness of being born, raised and a resident of the reservation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Much dependability or durability, October 4, 2007
I received this model as a gift from my wife about six years ago. She thought its short wave feature would interest me. That feature never actually never worked, unless you are fluent in Russian or Polish. For most of its life, it spent more time in a dresser drawer than traveling with me. Its AM tuning was short lived, its FM tuning had a habit of drifting, and its its battery life was short, so I used its transformer function, ac to dc 4.5. Finally, the power button gave out. You would press it down. In two seconds, it would pop right out. I was checking to see if there was a repair center when I came on Amazon. Now, I'm putting it in the trash. WMT
