5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well and Smells Great, October 12, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
We recently purchased a new-to-us home with not-so-new Berber carpet throughout the house. There were lots of mystery stains and dirt on the carpet plus a couple of accidents from our dog that needed to be cleaned up. This shampoo did a great job , removing the stains that had been on the carpet for an undetermined period of time.

This Bissell cleaner smells great, much better than the previous carpet shampoo that I used. The scent is really clean and fresh but no overpowering. Will definitely buy this product again!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Rollicking Medieval Mystery, September 26, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I enjoyed this mystery, set in England in 1018. The Danish King Cnut has just ascended to the throne, and there is much political unrest in England. At a convocation of the King's thanes, an Anglo-Saxon nobleman is murdered. The main characters in this novel are the unlikely pair charged with solving the murder: Winston, a former monk and illustrator of manuscripts, and Halfdan, a disenfranchised Danish noble. The pair go about solving the murder in typical murder-mystery fashion. I enjoyed the setting and the ploitical background of the story.

This book was originally written in Danish and translated to English. The translation is well done and reads smoothly. I definitely look forward to reading more in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Notebook from Amelia!, May 27, 2010
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Great book for 10-12 year olds! Amelia and her best friend Carly decide to start a baby-sitting business together. Written in notebook form and full of great illustrations, Amelia shares their baby-sitting adventures and tips for new baby sitters.

The book is written to be a lot of fun for kids who want to babysit. It's full of quizzes to help kids figure out how to be a good babysitter. My daughter would have loved this when she was the right age!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Psychological Thriller!, May 25, 2010
This review is from: Still Missing (Hardcover)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This debut book by Chevy Stevens was one of the best thrillers I've read in a long time! It's about Annie O'Sullivan, a Canadian realtor who is abducted from an open house she is holding. She is held captive for a year and finally escapes.

The last 100 pages were true page turners!

But when it appears that her client's killer is now after her, Abby has to use her intuitive skills to save herself! Really enjoyed the characters in this story and look forward to reading more in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut Mystery Introduces the "Surfing Detective", October 12, 2008
In this debut novel we meet Honolulu detective Kai Cooke, who bills himself as the "surfing detective". Plenty of Hawaiian local flavor, as Kai investigates the suspicious death of an environmental activist (Sara Ridgely-Parkes)who dies when she falls off a mule while riding down the Kalaupapa Cliffs on Molokai. While the death of Ms. Ridgely-Parkes is initially assumed to be an accident, her sister suspects foul play and hires Kai to investigate her death.

I really enjoyed the characters and setting in this book, and the mystery was interesting as well. I can't wait to read more books featuring the Surfing Detective.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Patterns, but Patterns are Not Too User-Friendly, September 24, 2008
I got this book to help me with designs for an afghan block swap project that I am doing. The patterns in here are lovely, but I have a few reservations about recommending this book:

First of all, the patterns given are for making 6" square blocks only. No gauge is given for any of the patterns. Second, the designs are written for using DK weight yarn. (And the author didn't state that all the yarns used were DK weight until the back of the book!)

These facts make it quite difficult for me to increase the block designs to what I am interested in making, which is a 12" square block using worsted weight yarn.

So far, though, once I figured out the correct gauge for my project, the designs do seem to be free of errors.

If you are interested in making an afghan using DK weight yarn, this book would be much more useful to you. But on the flip side, an afghan made with DK-weight yarn is not going to be as substantially warm as one made with worsted yarn.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Epic Brazilian Story, September 24, 2008
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of two sisters growing up in turn-of-the century Brazil. The two sisters take very different paths on their roads to maturity.

The setting is fabulous, every bit as enjoyable as the story itself!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Your Typical Wine Country Mystery, September 24, 2008
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Third book in Ellen Crosby's Wine Country Murders. This very enjoyable story is set in the Virginia wine country. Vineyard owner Lucie Montgomery wants to learn more about the origins of a very old bottle of wine which was donated to her charity auction. The very special bottle of Bordeaux supposedly was purchased by Thomas Jefferson as a gift for George Washington. Early in the story, Valerie Beauvais, a wine expert is killed in a suspicious car accident. Lucie's main concern is determining if the bottle of Bordeaux is genuine or not, but she feels that the suspicious death is somehow related. As Lucie tries to learn more about the "Washington Wine"'s provenance, she enters a dangerous web of lies and deception.

Great characters and setting! I also enjoyed the information about wine making. This was the first book I've read by Ms. Crosby. She did a great job of bringing a new reader like me up to speed on the characters and their backgrounds. I'm looking forward to reading the first two books in this series.
