MotoGP 08 PC by (CAPCOM) excels in visual quality and joystick support compared to its predecessor, but that's about it.
MotoGP 08 PC is compatible with a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick
MotoGP 08 PC is a good buy and still hours of fun despite the CONS below at the current sale price of $2.81, tax included.
There is no way I would have been happy paying the full $9.99 for this Console to PC title.
PC features MISSING in CAPCOM's MotoGP 08: (that previous Moto GP 2
(THQ 2003)had )
Better LAN support hands down. But both use GameSpy for hosting to the internet.
Ability to play your personal music library .ogg files in game while racing.
Ability to save race replays.
Helicopter view in race replays.
Rewind control function in race replays.
Bikes felt more controllable on keyboard in Moto GP 2
even without joystick support, wheelies are easier.
Better bike sounds in Moto GP 2
hands down, MotoGP 08 bike sounds are horribly bad, they at times sounds like a sick organ playing, droning. Turned volume way down because its annoyingly bad.
If you have never played MotoGP 2, or its been a long while since, or you have only played the console versions, chances are, those features may be irrelevant to you and won't be missed.
But for me its easy to see why this series was steered away from the PC market and geared more towards may more console only releases.
Also note, MotoGP 08 PC dose not play well with other tasks running in the background. If MotoGP 08 happens to crash for any reason, your Auto Save files can become corrupted causing the game to crash again and again at every relaunch of the game, or it will crash within the game when selecting to resume your race career within the game menu, it seems this is an issue ongoing since release in MotoGP 08. Your save files must then be deleted, to correct the problem and you'll loose all your career progress, a huge CON if it happens. (check/search various game forums for other problems)
