Jeff Gerke is my new favourite writing teacher. Have gone on to buy two more of his writing guides.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky Fun, June 9, 2014
Humblenations has an oddball sense of humour which gives me a chuckle every time I read one of his short tales.

This is a collection of his earlier work focused on women, sex, beer and, well, mostly that. Each story takes only a few minutes so it's good for reading on the trip into work, waiting in queues, or before the bomb explodes (unless you've figured out which wire to cut).

Big fun in bite size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight to the point, August 3, 2012
This book is a short read containing one simple premise: how to find stocks that have the potential to double, triple or even more in price.

It's every stock holders dream to choose those winners, but something that's not so easy to do.

The author shows you, with examples, on how to find these potential stocks. He points out what to look for in their charts, how to analyse their moving averages (and why it's important) and even touches on the important element of risk management (something that I think is imperative for all investors to understand).

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh Mr Jack ...., July 29, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Normally I'm not usually a fan of serial fiction because I always like to have all the loose ends tied up. What happens to Clarissa? Does Jack save her? Oh boy oh boy.

But this one had something special that had me constantly on the edge of my seat as the action took place.

It's a fast paced, thrill-a-minute action story that really does pack a punch (or is that a heated ice pick *shudder*).

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Realistic Travel Advice About Staying Safe, July 29, 2012

This book can cause the reader to become overwrought with feelings of longingness to see far away exotic locations, a yearning to feel sand between your toes, a desire to throw caution to the wind and try that food you can't pronounce but looks, oh so, delectable.

Yes my friends, once all fears of travel are no longer an issue (because this book addresses each one of them truthfully and realistically) you will start to talk Italian to your children, wear Hula skirts to work, and pack your suitcase for a trip to the grocery store (you never know).

You'll want to travel without worry and have a fabulous time.

You have been warned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Guide to Happiness, June 18, 2012
It was a joy to read Happiness for the Practical Mind. The book is a guide that takes you through to steps of finding your authentic self and finding happiness.

The author starts with a look into his own troubled life and then the steps he took, and now teaches, to find fulfillment. There is a lot of self awareness work to be done, and practical steps for meditation, right through to how to deal with negative people.

I'm glad to have found this book - it was a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Guide on Couponing, June 5, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been fascinated with couponing ever since I saw a television show on the subject, and people were getting whole grocery items for free (or little cost).

This guide is targeted towards busy people (arn't we all these days) so seemed an obvious starting point to learn more about it.

It covers the basics well, and goes into more depth on the three main retailers: Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, and Rite Aid, including how you can stack coupons and use their store loyalty programs for even bigger savings and discounts.

I really liked the included cheat sheets on how to best deal with each store, and it had a good list of resources of websites that you can use to find the best deals for your area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Guide on Credit Scores, June 4, 2012
As I'm always interested in finance topics, I thought I'd get this book since it was a good price.

It starts with a good overview of what makes up your FICO score, and then goes into how to improve that score so that your credit rating will improve. As you know, having a good credit score will mean you can easily get loans, but more importantly, be able to negotiate rates on credit cards and the like as well.

It then talks about reducing your debt including making a "written spending plan" since writing down your finances not only makes it easier to keep track of, but also seems to make it more important - enough to pay attention to.

Lastly the author talks about what happens if the debt collectors come a'knockin', and also if you should (and how) to file for bankruptcy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Inexpensive Gardening Guide, June 3, 2012
I've been wanting to set up a herb tower for a while now, and haven't been able to find the right instructions for it online, and I didn't want to buy an expensive book because I just wanted specific information, so I decided to give this book a shot. And I'm so glad I did.

It gave me some ideas on size, pots, soil etc, plus the best herbs to put in my tower.

It's short (which is probably why it's cheap), but I just wanted the info on herb towers, so it was just right for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great little book!, May 11, 2012

What a great find!

You can tell the author has done a lot of work and knows what she is talking about. I'm not sure of her background (she identifies herself as a pear, but might also work in fashion?) but she knows a lot about what works (and doesn't) for pear shaped bodies (big bum/hips) and how to hide them effectively.

eg. avoid skinny jeans because they taper in too much and make the hips look massive (although personally I think EVERYONE should avoid skinny jeans, not just pear shapes) ;)

I hope the author continues the rest in this series for other body types because us woman need all the help we can get.
