2.0 out of 5 stars One Star for play - One star for concept., December 15, 2001
When this game was released in June, it had issues. We all said "just give it a couple of months, it will work its self out."
Well, it's subscription based now, six months, and the quality is still suffering.
I really, really wanted this to work. The concept of this was so impressive that it alone earns bonus points.
But, sadly, that massive concept was also the downfall of it. Trying to be everything, it manages to be nothing well.
Save those Christmas dollars (and the monthly fee) for something more robust.
This is such an awsome concept, I find it hard to believe some company with stronger coding ability will not attempt a project like this again.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little weak on content., November 6, 2001
This review is from: Madden NFL 2001 - PC (Video Game)
Maybe I was jaded by the content of NHL 2001. The depth of the play by play.
Madden lacks in this department, I was hearing John say the same things by the second half of the first game. In contrast, NHL 2001, I'm in my seventh season, and still hearing things I haddn't before.
The gameplay of Madden makes up for this, however. Sticking with what has worked for the past 10 years, its become the standard. Motion is fluid, Graphics are good, play choices are excellent. I can do without the coach commentary for offside calls, but AI is ok.
If you are looking for football for the PC platform, it really is the standard. If only they had a little competition to push them to greatness.

1.0 out of 5 stars Watch the first 15 minutes, then call it a day., November 6, 2001
This review is from: Swordfish (DVD)
Written in a non-linear fashon, the movie picks up about 3/4th the way through, showing the "big explosion" right off the top. The effects was certainly the best of a otherwise hum drum year, but it all goes down hill from there.
Nothing original here, leaving no cliche plot device untouched. Seriously, this is two hours of my life I'll never get back.
If you want to watch some edgy film style, watch memento. If you want to watch a Hacker movie, see the Matrix again. If you want to watch somehting that just shuts your brain off, pick up anything else, but do yourself a favor on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars They are from WHERE????, September 22, 1998
This review is from: When I Woke (Audio CD)
At first listen, you may think to yourself "Oh, Burne put out some new material." But that thought is quickly dismissed. Then you open the liner notes, and realize that the band is not from Africa, or South America, but from PITTSBURGH. Perhaps it's this blue-collar background that gives the band it's earthy, rhymthic feel. The band uses lyrics not as a stamp placed on top of each song, but as an extension of music. Some of the "Words" arn't words at all, but gibberish that sounds right at the time. And by doing it, it feels so right. Don't bother putting it on the shelf. Save yourself some effort, and keep it right beside your CD player.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't have this album, Shame on you., September 22, 1998
This review is from: Us - Peter Gabriel (Audio CD)
From the opening sounds of haunting bagpipes, to the every so quiet "Shhh..listen" of the last song, this album is 100 percent emotion. "Come talk to me" is the anthem of every relationship hindered by miscommunication. Unless you have no heart, you WILL feel a ping of sadness while listening to "Washing of the water" PG even accuratly portrays the emotions of watching a signifigant other's most mundane actions in "Secret world." If you only have room to take 10 CDs, pack this one first.
