5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous End to the Fever Series, January 21, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shadowfever (Hardcover)
Karen Marie Moning breaks the mold for the UF/PR genre with the capstone to the Fever series. Rich in depth and offering wonder and mystery, even beyond the end of the books, she has really triumphed in Shadowfever. I hope that publishers of this genre take note. KMM doesn't rely on tropes and doesn't give us hackneyed happy endings. She doesn't tell us exactly what everyone is, how they'll all end up, and wrap things up with a pretty pink bow. She believes her readers will understand her intent, feel the magic and appreciate her open ended world. And we do!

Without question, I think that Moning is the finest author in the Paranormal Romance genre. You simply cannot go wrong with the Fever series. The depth, creativity and quality of the books makes just about every other author in the genre pale in comparison.

For readers of the previous four books: With unexpected twists and turns, Shadowfever will upend everything you *think* you know from previous Fever books and have you eager to reread the entire series to see it all from a different paradigm. Leaving us with almost as many mysteries as she's solved, I can't wait to see what she does for the series that follows this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply superb, December 2, 2010
Youra Guller is little known in the US but a pianist of simply astonishing range. From Beethoven to Granados to Albeniz, her work is truly on the level of Horowitz and Rubinstein. You won't go wrong with this compilation.

Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill

2.0 out of 5 stars Works moderately well, poor workmanship, November 12, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This grill was purchased as a step up from the Foreman grill because of the ability to control the temperature and the removable grill plates. It works moderately well, and the ability to remove the grill plates for cleaning is a bonus as any user of countertop grills can tell you.

My quibble with the grill is the inferior workmanship on the housing. The plastic rims on the front, near the temperature and timer control knobs, began to break off after less than a month of once or twice a week use. It's now really a problem after only two months. I'm very disappointed in the poor quality from a Calphalon product. Our grill is gently used, moved from the kitchen counter back into a nearby storage cabinet, on a shelf at eye level, after use. It hasn't been banged around and yet it is literally crumbling. Prospective buyers should be concerned about how long the item will last.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous, gentle, inexpensive exfoliator, November 7, 2010
I simply can't say enough about how much I love this product, how simple it is, and how easily portable for travel it is. Wears like iron and leaves your skin feeling so smooth, looking so fresh, that you'll never want to be without one again.

Vintage Wood Clock - 12"
Vintage Wood Clock - 12"

4.0 out of 5 stars Very loud ticking...., September 15, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vintage Wood Clock - 12" (Kitchen)
The clock has much softer (lighter) colors than those that appear in the photo on Amazon. It is bluer, as well. It has a very loud ticking mechanism, very audible even at a distance of 10-12 feet away. It's still a pretty clock, but for anyone who is bothered by a ticking sound or who is interested in specifically matching a turquoise theme, this clock might disappoint.

1.0 out of 5 stars A total Rip-off! And be forewarned- Amazon WILL NOT let you return this item!!!!, July 26, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SSSCAT Cat Training Aid (Misc.)
This item does not work AT ALL. I installed as recommended. Let the motion detection equilibrate as recommended and NOTHING. The cat can stand right in front of it and nothing happens (and yes, the unit was turned on and had fresh batteries!) I got *two* on the basis of all the other reviews which must be left by MultiVet stockholders or something. I'm out $50 with NO RETURN because they contain pressurized cans that are safe to ship to ME (and take my $$$ doing so) but not safe for me to return.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing...., June 29, 2010
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars

This item was ordered for a 14 year old die-hard Star Trek fan. Both the initially shipped item and its replacement item were defective. The electronics appear to be very fragile or very poorly constructed. The first one had no sound and no light, even after changing out the batteries and the replacement had distorted and unintelligible sound. We have now returned two and are done with the product. Earlier versions of the Enterprise (A?) worked far better and in fact, the young ST fan has had one bought second hand for more than three years and it's still operating.

Save your money and your child's disappointment... :(

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible!, March 25, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This screen protector is far below the quality that you typically see for devices like iPods and iPhones. It is definitely NOT matte and in fact is so reflective it makes it almost impossible to read with a book light in reduced light environments without continually having to shift the angle of the light as you read on the page. I could never get all the bubbles out and it arrived already scratched.

Strongly recommend AGAINST.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily my favorite in the series..., October 27, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just when it seemed the Sookie series was getting formulaic and as though the heroine was bent on making up for lost time by trying the supe flavor of the month, Harris surprises with this book. At the top of her game, Harris manages to create a complex story with a genuine mystery element, draw in supernatural species from another dimension and truly ancient vampires all while furthering the complex interaction between some of her most loved secondary characters. Most of all she drives the evolution of her heroine into high gear. This book gives us a Sookie who has finally come into her own and who is becoming less dependent on being rescued by all the supe men that seem to find her almost preternaturally irresistible. She's finally got a shot at not just being valued for her skills but maybe even enjoying herself with them. An exciting read for Sookie fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars An odd entry in the Sookie Short Story category...., October 13, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I enjoyed all the short stories except for the Sookie Stackhouse story, which was wholly against everything that Charlaine Harris had built in the previous 8 book series. *What* was the author thinking? She had spent time developing this savvy, cautious and moral woman, only to have her appear pathetic and easily hoodwinked in this short story. The concept of a grandparent (or great-grandparent) arranging this type of "gift" is just downright creepy, frankly.

All the other stories were from good to very good, but because I know a lot of readers may gravitate to the book for a Sookie story, I cannot possibly give it four stars. If I was rating it for just the Sookie Stackhouse entry, this anthology would get only one star.
