2.0 out of 5 stars Good review book, but a lot of the material is out of date, November 23, 2004
This review is from: A+ Fast Pass (Paperback)
This book is a good review guide for the A+ exams, however a lot of the material in it is out of date.

2.0 out of 5 stars Covers hardware exam well, but lacks proper coverageofOSexam, November 23, 2004
This book provides a good coverage of the A+ Core Hardware exam with about 80 percent of the questions on the Core Hardware covered in some part of this book. However this book does not provide as good of a coverage of the Operating Systems exam. A lot of questions that came up on the OS exam were not mentioned anywhere in this book.

The practice exams included with this book are fairly basic. About 80 percent of the questions on the Core Hardware practice exams with this book were covered on the Core Hardware exam. Only 50 percent of the questions on the OS practice exams were covered in the OS exam.

This book also needs to be better organised around the A+ objectives.

Overall, this book covers the Core Hardware exam very well but the OS section of this book needs quite a bit of improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very easy to understand and detailed UML book, October 27, 2004
This review is from: UML 2 Toolkit (Paperback)
For anyone wanting to learn UML, I would recommend this book. This book is very easy to understand, yet very detailed in its approach and provides plenty of examples.

1.0 out of 5 stars A compact version of Upgrading and Repairing PCs, September 9, 2004
Upgrading and Repairing Laptops is just a version of Upgrading and Repairing PCs cut in half with about 50 pages on laptop related matters and a few grammar changes added to the book to make it sound laptop specific. Most of the information in the book has been copied out of Upgrading and Repairing PCs (some parts even sound as though you are meant to be using a desktop computer instead of a laptop computer). In some parts of the book there is hardly any talk of laptop computers. For the next edition of this book, the laptop-related parts of the book should be combined and the information that was copied from URPCs should be taken out. If you want to learn how your laptop works, get the service manual for your system and the current edition of URPCs.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst textbook in the world, August 1, 2004
I am up to the 2nd chapter of this book and it is virtually impossible to read. This English in this book is very poor. No one should have to use this book as a textbook for their subject. This book would get a grade of 0% on an exam. If you want to learn ASP.NET use a book from another publisher.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of SAD but not good for serious SAD study, July 5, 2004
For beginners to Systems Analysis & Design I would recommend this textbook, however do not rely on this for a serious study of Systems Analysis & Design. This book is easy to read, but the "This technique is so great, note - there are some disadvantages" can get annoying at times. Maybe this book could be used as an overview of SAD for managers. Also, the Student Study Guide provided on CD-ROM with the text is not useful for quick review of the text for an exam as each chapter takes up 80 slides and each review of each chapter takes a while to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners, but not for serious study of Java, June 20, 2004
This review is from: Java Programming (Paperback)
This book is good for people who are beginners to programming with its simple style, but it should not be used for serious study of Java programming. This book does not cover Java in detail enough for you to use it for serious study. Beginners should use this text as a precursor to Java - How to Program and professionals should use this as a reference book. This book is more like a summary of the key features of Java. The price should be reduced to more like $19.99US.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to statistics, June 17, 2004
This book is a good introduction to statistics and is quite easy to understand with excellent examples, though a few parts of it can get a bit technical. For anyone wishing to learn introductory statistics, I would recommend this book.
