Now Voyager (UK Import) By Barry Gibb (0001-01-01)
Now Voyager (UK Import) By Barry Gibb (0001-01-01)
3 used & new from $19.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Album!, June 28, 2016
Barry Gibb's landmark album, "Now, Voyager" from 1984 is a masterpiece. Sadly, MCA did nothing to promote it and it barely charted. The top 40 hit "Shine Shine" was to be followed by the white rap "Fine Line", but without the help of the producers, this fantastic Gibb project was lost. The duet, "Face To Face" with Olivia Newton-John was released as a single, but went nowhere, unfortunately. There are some truly inventive R&B songs here including the, bouncy `call-response' vocals of "Shatterproof" and the frantic paced work on "Temptation". "She Says" harkens back to the Streisand ballad days and "One Night (For Lovers)" received great FM airplay for its sultry sexiness. Only one song contains the songwriting skills of all three brothers and "The Hunter" is a dramatic and eclectic piece of drama that nicely finishes the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean, No Staining., June 28, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read a lot of the other reviews and fortunately, I did not have the teeth browning problem so many others did. So I don’t want to detract from those experience. I simply did not experience browning from the wash. I did experience a nice feeling of cleanliness and freshness. It is possible to get mouthwash (generic) at the store for the price of this Rinse, but Crest does have the name bran doing for it if you are wary of that. It’s a good product that I had success with, but not extraordinary. It is mouthwash after all. Voila!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy With My New Cable!, June 28, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I lost the charging cable to my Kindle book. After not finding it anywhere, I simply ordered a new one. The two ends, a USB port and a micro USB port fit my Kindle and my charger port perfectly. There was ample cable length (6 feet) which was more than my older cable. These are also gold-plated and the ports are secured well on the cables – much better than my old cable. Amazon Basics always seems to come through with a great replacement product no matter what I order. All this for just a few bucks and a 2-day delivery. You can’t ask for more than that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product For The Price, June 28, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a small bottle of very thick shampoo. Groganics is famous for its quality and this bottle of ‘deep freeze follicle cleanser’ does the job. Losing my hair, I chose this product as it contains a DHT Blocking System; meaning it will eliminate DHT from your DHT producing scalp and stop hair from falling out. That’s what they claim anyway and I see no reason to doubt them, especially at this low cost. My hair also feels tingly afterwards and slightly thicker. Why shampoo with just any old product when you can possibly get the added benefits of NO DHT and hair thickening?

5.0 out of 5 stars Primo Socks!, June 28, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These socks are not cheap but will last a while. Made of 70% wool, they keep your foot warm and provide ample cushion in the seam and the ankle. There is cushioning offering significant impact absorption for extended backcountry excursions. These are the kinds of socks I wear every day and wash every week. They last a long time and keep their stretch ability. Very well made, all of Smart Wool’s socks are great!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not The Tightest Fit, June 28, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sketchers Sport Men's Afterburn Memory-Foam Lace-Up Sneaker. For Fifty bucks, I wasn’t expecting a great sneaker, but these were really disappointing. They fit my 10.5 foot in length, but were a bit wide, meaning they were not tight. The gel insole is very comfortable, but that makes little difference if the sneaker is loose all the way around. Besides that, the lace simply snapped after the third wear. That was surprising as laces simply don’t normally disintegrate the first week. These have quickly become my trash day sneakers. A word of warning!

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Goes On - Remarkably!, June 20, 2016
The trilogy of "Woodswoman" has gone one step further by allowing the public one more look into Dr. Anne LaBastille's unique wilderness life. One might get the feeling that after dozens of conservationist and environmental oriented books that Dr. LaBastille might tire of letting the public peer into her private life. Fortunately for us, this didn't happen.

"Woodswoman IIII" is more than just another tapestry of stories and events of these last five years. It marks an abrupt change in the life of a woman who cannot live without a tough balance of serene isolation and public duty. It is a mix of wilderness ideologies and humorous, but tough modern realities.

The reader is always treated to nearly mystical stories of the woods. These include retreating from the remote cabin on the last day of winter thaw as six inches of water cover her remote lake. The ice cold winter water bubbles up through holes from the weight of the ice as she passes over. It is harrowing. The romanticism of the mountains is revealed through generations of bold and gregarious wild loons who seem to recognize their neighbor without fear, even seeming to welcome her.

Danger is also not lacking, as Anne tells of a southern camping excursion where she and a companion where shot at and chased through an Appalachian valley, hiding overnight, cold, wet and terrified. Her ever faithful dogs put her to the test as they get older and desperately try to protect their lifelong companion, while she cannot bear to see their inevitable mortality.

The reality of life as a writer and lecturer continue, however, and the reader learns hard but humorous facts about the complex and harried life of a writer who decides to publish her own books. Her "miserly book factory" is an essay on the realities of making a sparse living from writing of your endeavors. It's hard to believe she uses no computer and the one telephone line is only shared with a FAX machine.

This latest edition in the "Woodswoman" series contains a more modern note than the previous, but that may be the point. Society moves on and one can only ignore the madness of progress so far before your life becomes less meaningful. The last chapter called, "Trust" seems to embody Anne LaBastille's philosophy about her lifestyle. It is touching, moving and without regrets. This edition lives up to its remarkable predecessors.

Dr. Anne LaBastille wrote the foreword to Christopher Angus' new book, The Extraordinary Adirondack Journey of Clarence Petty: Wilderness Guide, Pilot, and Conservationist. Her book also includes photos by Gary A. Randorf, photographer and author of The Adirondacks: Wild Island of Hope (Creating the North American Landscape).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Best!, June 20, 2016
All tracks are newly remastered from original master tapes. The DVD side contains the entire album in *LPCM Stereo with an interview of Barbara and Barry Gibb on the original recording of "Guilty", filmed in 2005 during the recording of Barbara's new album. There is also a video performance of one of the songs ("Stranger In A Strange Land") from the new album included exclusively on this disc as a preview of the new album. There is also the video of "Guilty" from Streisand's TV Special "One Voice" filmed in 1986. A photo gallery of the original studio shots/outtakes is also here on the DVD side.

It is amazing that after over 25 years, "Guilty" is still Streisand's largest selling album. Barry Gibb and his brothers have worked wonders with many female artists, but this is probably their best writing and production work (Grammy winners). Garnering 5 singles with 2 going to #1, this is Barbra's essential "pop" album. From the R&B laden title track to the softly, sultry "Run Wild", Streisand's voice is relished. The Gibb's really know how to focus on Barbra's strengths. The two duets are some of Barry Gibb's strongest vocals to date and all the songs are bouncy, pop masterpieces. Finishing off nicely with the extravagant "Make It Like A Memory", you'll just hit the 'play' button again. Great album. Great songs. Great memories.
