4.0 out of 5 stars New found respect..., February 16, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After reading his account, I found myself developing a new found admiration for Mr Gates. However, the unwieldy size and nature of the Dept of Defense and the intrusive and controlling actions of Executive branch minions & 'toadies' I found to be abominable, as was the always contrary nature of Vice President Biden (who, in truth) constantly and frequently used Air Force 2 to visit the Middle East War Theatres , ostensibly to visit the troops but in reality to visit and provide an aura and presence to protect that Son,...all the while espousing opposing opinions to "surge" intent ...making the VP's opinions entirely suspect). I think Mr Gates 'cut' VP Biden an awful lot of slack here (along with a lot of other Executive staff members, both legitimate and campaign persons). I think politicians and aspiring politicians would do well to retread and pay particular attention to Mr Gates recommendation and advice chapters for future Secretaries of State. I believe I shared Mr Gates relief on returning 'home' and finally leaving Washington, D.C. Behind, as I read the last page. I wish him we'll...America owes him a debt also.

The narrative draws the reader in even if the topic is not an accustomed subject train. I'd like my adult 'kids' to read this...

5.0 out of 5 stars A palatable, easily read, correction to Islamic myth & rhetoric, September 17, 2012
This is a superb, easily read book that clears up Muslim history, methods and intent from the last 13 centuries until the current, newly inflamed, "politically correct" present. This is an educational "primer", describing the present day threat to America and it's citizens, that should be provided to ALL Americans above grammer school age; Their, and your, eyes will be snapped open to facts that have been intentionally suppressed by political correctness and modern day islamic lobbying in America as well as ongoing political manipulation by the United Nations. Be enlightened in a necessary, but painless way...

"God Blessed America" - A compendium of historic facts and quotes depicting the influence of the Bible on the creation of our unique American Republic and its "Founding Fathers" as well as the worldwide impact of God's Church On Earth, the United States of America. An informative history, in concise paperback, compiled in simple, easily read format by J.C. Failla. A thoroughly enjoyably and portable read, particularly for the public transportation commuter and those rainy vacation days. This book will definitely be on "Santa's list" for my Niece and Nephews.

An excellent account of the "hidden hero of the revolution"... We owe this man a great deal for the freedoms all Americans enjoy. Samuel Adams was a perceptive man who truly understood those freedoms, and their cost; would that we all...

5.0 out of 5 stars The United Nations is no friend to the U.S.A..., September 10, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
An inside look at the obstinate, foot dragging bureacracy inside the U.S. State Department from a man, John Bolton, who (in an ideal world) should be some future (smart) President's Secretary of State. He details a failed United Nations organization that has never been more than an optimistic pie-in-the-sky theory (just like its' predecessor "League of Nations" ancestor)that is fraught with corruption as well as systematic animosity for it's United States host and primary benefactor. Bolton is an expert on diplomatic double-speak and maneuvering and recognizes the pathways through the frustrating maze known as the United Nations. This book is an "early warning" on the insidious intent the United Nations would bring to bear upon our Democratic Republic, and our Constitution, if left to United Nations manipulations and devices.

Still wearing them since the '60's (but NOT the same ones) and still enjoying the comfort and versatility. They "go" with anything, great for travel, and if they get to grungy for you, put them in the shower with you once in awhile...they can take it...

5.0 out of 5 stars History polished..., September 10, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A fine account of Washington's trials & tribulations during the birth of our Nation as culled from his (and other's of that time) writings; an inside look at the leadership "chess moves" facing political statesmen. This account ranks up there with Machiavelli's "The Prince"...

1.0 out of 5 stars Proof that just about anyone can write a book..., September 10, 2008
This review is from: Stanley and Sophie (Hardcover)
As an owner of two Border Terriers for more than 10 years I appreciated accounts of the characteristics and personality traits of Stanley and Sophie. What I can't fathom is how the author could acquire first one and then a second dog, write a book about the purpose and love they provided her when she required it, and then turn them out to someone else. I couldn't have done that to my dogs, their inate loyalty doesn't deserve that kind of treatment; but then I suppose book profits are the #1 priority to a "poet, essayist, and novelist" grasping for the optimal income producing topic "of the moment". Jennings is proof that anyone can write a book, and almost everyone does these days. I won't make the mistake of purchasing a Jennings work again.
