2.0 out of 5 stars The movie was good up until the end, March 3, 2015
This review is from: Fury [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
The movie was ok up until the very end even though it was somewhat far fetched to say the least. Then it was totally unbelievable, which for me wrecked the entire movie. For example, a single hitler youth can take out a Sherman take with a Panzerfaust, but an entire group of highly trained SS soldiers can't take out one Sherman tank without loosing half their men, seriously? Need I say more! The Sherman tank wasn't called a "Tommy Cooker" for nothing! Typical hollywood BS which really destroyed what could have been a very good movie. Stay away if you like realistic war movies because this one is about as unrealistic and as dumb as it gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different but still very good!, October 30, 2013
This review is from: Drive (Audio CD)
I listened to The Gathering just to hear her amazing voice. She made that band especially in the early days when they were putting out albums like Mandylion and nighttime Birds! However that was then and this is now.

So as I listened to this cd the first time through, I thought, ok it's nothing like those Gathering days but its still pretty decent. Lots of driving tunes, some nice slower stuff and a great mix. However the more I've listened to it the more I've come to really enjoy it. It's got a very lively feel to it, lots of energy etc. Maybe it's the way it was recorded "live band" and the way it was mixed, but it pops!
The songs are very well done and Anneke sounds as if she's having a blast doing it.

If this is the direction she's heading in, I'm still very much a fan of hers and her work. Yes its got some poppy feel at times, but its also a damn fine rock record and I'm diggin' it.

Well done Anneke!

4.0 out of 5 stars Southern swamp done right!, August 16, 2013
This review is from: Rollin [Explicit] (Audio CD)
I love southern style hard rock/metal and this band has that sound in spades! Great vocals, catchy riffage and great grooves. I'm surprised they're not massively famous yet as the material is that this good. My only gripe about this release is the sound quality. It seems a little tinny or thin in places. I think it could have used a few more hours of production tweaking. Other than that, it gets two thumbs up from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good album that they finally got around to re-releasing!, June 29, 2013

This review is from: Magica (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
This new Magica re-master sounds very good and has extra goodies like a well written booklet about Dio by Mick Wall, a cool picture of the man himself on a seperate card, complete lyrics and some extra tracks which include some live bootleg stuff. All in all this makes it a worth while pickup. if you liked Dio or even respected the man for what he did for metal, you owe it to yourself to grab this remaster. The man is missed by all metal fans as his voice and his song writing skills produced some of the best tunes of all time, Nuff Said!

4.0 out of 5 stars What a great return to form!, June 29, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For me, like many reviewers on here Queensryche was a great band in the 80's and early 90's. However somehow they lost their way around the mid 90's and were really a band that I had pretty much given up on over the last twenty years or so (man time flies bye!).

With all the drama surrounding their camp lately, I thought to myself who cares really. Why is anybody even bothering to discuss this band as they've done basically nothing in like forever it seemed. However, I'm here to say that kicking Geoff Tate out has obviously rekindled this band. Like many on here, Geoff Tate was one of the reasons I first was attracted to this band, well that and the great melodic riffage. Tate's vocals soared above the pounding rhythm and that was the Queensryche sound. However over time that sound somehow got lost and a change was needed.

Well Geoff's gone and from this first post Geoff Tate release, it's quite obvious as to where the problem lied. This new band Queensryche has begun where the old band stopped in 1988. It's got that old school feel about it. Think about Warning or Rage of Order and you've got the right idea. No it's not as good as those albums were, but it as close to that sound and time as they've come in years. Some may say that going that route sounds stale or rehashed or uncreative or whatever, I say thank God! They have truly gotten back to their roots and it sounds refreshing and is definitely a step in the right direction. The band sounds awesome and Todd was obviously the right man for the job!

My only real complaint is that its not long enough. It needs another song or two, but I'm really looking for stuff now, so that should tell you something about this release.

Well done lads!!

I like war flicks always have. Some are based on fact, some are based on fiction and others are documentaries. This is not a documentary of the Red Baron, it's a story based on the Red Baron with a romantic twist to keep the ladies interested. Having said that, if you like war flicks or aerial combat flicks in general, you will enjoy this movie. It's got really cool combat scenes and the footage is very nicely done. I enjoyed it and I also recommend it!

This is probably one of my favourite Supertramp releases. It's great tunes that are well though out both in terms of arrangements and lyrical content. Great musicianship all around and lots of nice grooves and melody. Timeless in many ways and always a great listen!

Styx's early stuff is awesome and this cd is one of their best efforts. Not a bad song on the album and not as commercial as the tommy Shaw inspired Styx material (which I also like, well up until Cornerstone etc). This album has some great grooves on it and some pretty interesting lyrical content. I dig it, check it out!
