5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Film of 2015, December 27, 2015
This review is from: Spectre [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
To start this review off I'd like to say that Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond. Even though I am a classically trained Bond fan. I grew up with Connery films and I love the entire franchise. Craig's films overall though have been far and away my favorite. The reviews for this latest entry though had been mixed so my expectations were a bit lowered. To put it simply though Spectre blew me away. Daniel Craig once again nails the character perfectly. If this is his final bow as the character he ends on a high note. His performance is just incredible. The Bond Girl this time around is played by Lea Seydoux known for her performance in Blue is the Warmest Color. It's the first love interest since Eva Green's Vesper Lynd in Craig's first outing, and the relationship is well handled. It feels real and not tacked on to fill the beautiful woman quota.

The film follows Bond's path of discovery as he fights to learn the truth behind a mysterious evil organization. Now this may sound like a familiar plot point for a Bond film, but it is done with expert execution. The organization is run by a man that just might have a past with James. Their story is an excellent emotional ride that does a great job of tying all the previous Craig films together. I recommend that if you haven't seen his other films, or it's been a while you should see or get a refresher before you see Spectre. There are many nods and references made to his other films and overall Spectre won't have the same impact if you hadn't seen his other movies. Also clocking in at almost two and a half hours Spectre is James Bond's longest outing. However the pace is so well done it never feels like it overstays it's welcome.

The action in the film is very well constructed yet again by Sam Mendes. It actually includes the largest explosion ever filmed according to Guinness. The reliance on practical effects is always a welcomed sight. Even away from the action Mendes has a great eye and it makes the film visually stunning. Whether it is the city of London, on ski slopes in the Alps, or in Rome the sequences are beautiful. Part of the opening scene is comprised of a long one take that was a nice touch and I loved it. Sam Smith recorded the song "Writings On The Wall" for the movie. It connects to the movie much more than a regular Bond theme and I loved it. I never thought that I would say this, but if this is Craig's final Bond film I am content with that. It so expertly puts a bow on Craig's Bond, and could act as a perfect conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointing Entry Into The Hunter Hayes Discography, November 7, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The 21 Project (Audio CD)
Update: After listening to the album more I have grown to like it much more than on my initial listen. I still wish that instead of variants of songs there were simply more original tracks, but The 21 Project is well worth the price tag anyway.

Original Review: A disappointing release from Hunter Hayes. Much like was previously done with Encore this Album is light on content. Now you may ask how a 3 disc set can be light on content? It's very simple. You are only getting 7 new songs. Every CD has the same 7 but a different version of them with a studio, acoustic, and live version. That might not be a bad thing if the songs were great, but unfortunately this album is Hunter's weakest yet. I loved the previous releases including Encore because of how good the few songs were. However this release includes some very average songs. None of them through my initial listen received repeat listen. That's not to say they are bad, but I'm hoping for more from his next release.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun, Beautiful, and Cinematic Adventure that isn't without its Flaws., March 9, 2015
The Order has been critically panned by reviewers. I had it pre-ordered and decided to keep it and give the game a shot. I loved my experience with the game. First off the game is beautiful. Perhaps the first game on the console that looks next gen and Ready at Dawn should be praised for how far they have pushed the PS4 with this title. The game is very cinematic even going as far as including black wide-screen bars on the top and bottom of the screen. There are many cutscenes throughout, but their actual length has been a little exaggerated. This is no where near Metal Gear Solid length cutscenes. One of the main drawbacks are the moments where you are walking and it's basically an interactive walk and talk. This slows down the adventure. Thankfully though this is kept to the first portion of the game for the most part. The game really goes to a new level in the second half in both action and story. I found myself a little bored the first few chapters, but when things starting firing on all cylinders I couldn't put the game down. Is the Order 1886 a perfect game? No. It is however a great experience for those that are film fans that love the cinematic feel. Shooter fans may be disappointed by the lack of breakneck action, but the story and world that is created here is pretty great. It's not for everyone though so I would wait for a price drop for those on the fence. I just hope the game sells well enough for Sony to green-light a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Stereo!!!, January 1, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I decided that I needed a stereo system for my home. Boomboxes had taken me as far as they could, and I wanted something that had more features. First off this stereo sounds great! It's highs are clear and has booming bass even at low volumes. I normally listen to it in the 5-10 range out of 50. It also has two red and white audio inputs on back for multiple added components. I do wish there had been an aux jack as well. The lights are excellent and really add an extra facet to the music listening experience. It has many other features such as DJ synthesizers, NFC, USB copy, Bluetooth, among others. I will say that Bluetooth audio is not as loud as hard wired audio. Overall I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. The build quality far surpasses that of lower priced Sony shelf systems and it's sound quality is excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank You Amazon!, June 2, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When The Killing was taken over by Netflix I was very worried that season 3 would not find it's way onto DVD. I am a collector of physical media and do not believe in streaming content if I can get a physical disc. I have been waiting for this release for a few months and I can't wait to see the next chapter of the series. Thank you Amazon for your continued support of the medium. As the previous reviewer mentioned it would be nice if the set included subtitles but overall I have no problem with the set if it's of the same quality as Season 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Sony Boombox to Date, January 13, 2014
This iteration of Boombox is going to be replacing the Xplod for Sony. It keeps the same core design of a 5 3/4 inch sub being flanked by two woofers and tweeters. However the bass seems to be even better on this boombox then the previous Xplod model. It has a tighter frequencies response and really packs a wallop. It includes a CD player with MP3 support, but unfortunately not disc resume. So if you turn the player off it won't have any memory of where it was in the CD. Thankfully it has shuffle so I just use that option. The tape player has been taken out of this model, but as a consolation prize Sony has added bluetooth functionality. I have used it with Android phones and tablets, along with iPhones, and Windows 7 laptops. It works flawlessly with each. Though as a bit of a tip if you are having trouble connecting turn the boombox off and turn it back on and hit the bluetooth button while the device is trying to connect. It works everytime.

The boombox also includes a remote for adjusting it from a distance which is always nice. It has AM and FM presets as well. They are much easier to preset then the Xplod boombox was. The Light Show feature is also nice as the red lights change according to the music that is being played. A very nice touch in for parties or a room with dim lighting. The boombox itself looks very futuristic and is gorgeous in person and feels well made overall. It does include a handle for portability. This Sony boombox is my 4th and the best to date. It has the features, performance, and design of the best quality in the market. Right when I think Sony has reached the pinnacle they always outdo themselves. I highly recommend this boombox!

I am a fan of physical media so I am thrilled at all the titles that Amazon is manufacturing. Titles that probably wouldn't be put out on dvd on a normal retail capacity. The quality of the set is fine. Sure it might not be as polished as a normal studio release but the video quality and sound are up to par and look great. The dvds also have artwork on them so they look like a normal release. They don't have the protective layer that normal high quality dvds have so that means take extra care of them when playing them. Still I had no scratches on the discs as I take great care of my dvds. Other than that the set is great and I applaud Amazon for it's commitment to physical media for those that love it. I hope that season 3 is also released so I can catch up on the next chapter of The Killing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thrilling Ride Into The Apocalypse, October 14, 2013
This review is from: Revolution: Season 1 (DVD)
Revolution is a story about people. The over-arching theme is a world without power, but the main focus are the characters. Every single one of them is well developed and enjoyable to watch. Even Charlie who tends to get a bad rap from the fans is an detailed character and played expertly by Tracy Spiradakos. The characters banter back and forth makes the sometimes stationary plot seem to move on even if it isn't. The series does suffer from being in a singular overall story of going after Charlie's brother. The individual plot points are interesting as the group tries to save Danny. Many roadblocks pop up with extra emotional baggage for these characters. As they lean on each other they learn more about themselves and the ones they fight alongside.

The characters and their dialogue is well written, witty, and smart. The actors do a great job and every one of them feel very natural in their role. The relationship between Miles and Charlie is the highlight of the series and is perfection. Also the villains and their motives are well done and even understandable which is the staple of a great series. Every character even the villains are given flashbacks that show their life pre-blackout which gives them much more depth than normal characters on Network TV.

This series like JJ Abram's other forays into TV is rooted in mystery. Why did the world suddenly lose the ability to use power is the main mystery in the first season. Many of the questions that are asked in the first season are answered. That is right before a plethora of others are created to keep the second season humming.

The violence in the series is also a high point. Never does it become too gruesome, but it does have a realism that is refreshing in a network series. Miles cuts up guys left and right with that sword and it is always thrilling. The Blu ray itself looks amazing. It is near perfect HD quality with great facial detail and environmental depth. The sound gets the job done and keeps the dialogue crisp and clear. Overall I love the series and it's characters and am enjoying season 2. Please do yourself a favor and at least give the series a try you won't regret it.
