5.0 out of 5 stars i own 4 highly recommend, March 1, 2015

one of the best buys out there for a tool stand... i own 4 and would not hesitate to buy another... i have never had a top split or received a split top... in fact i don't no how you could "split" the mdf pressboard.... you could maybe break a chunk off but... oh well... it is tedious to put together but i just turn on amazon prime movies and take my time while putting them together... i have put plywood on all the lower shelves and on 2 of them i had to put a larger top on... and those i didnt take the original off i just screwed the new larger one on.... works great... i recommend this table...

edit: oh yea i didnt drill pilot holes for the top, just put the legs on top of the top board and screwed it on with the provided screws and a dewalt drill

1.0 out of 5 stars really bad,, but with several hours of work... ok, February 3, 2015

its really hard to star rate this... if you need a 5c collet chuck to order and use right away that is precise... forget it... it gets a one star... if you are a machinist wanting to save some money and can renovate stuff well its ok... i almost sent it back,, back in time before i purchased this i researched this precision matthews chuck and could not find any TIR information,, (total indicated run out) that should have been my first clue). after i got it i made sure i had the perfect fit in the lathe spindle.. i collated up my indication bar and it was out almost .004 at 6 inches and at the base maybe a half inch same thing, it should have measured .0001 or .0002 out,,, so i knew i had a problem... at that point i had to decide if i would send it back... before i made that decision i decided to disassemble it and clean it sometimes Chinese stuff is full of crud... so i did... put it together and i was still out .0025 that's the outer limit for a 3 jaw chuck... so i took it apart again,,, i had to knock the back plate off with a lead mallet since it seemed to be a light press fit... i put the back plate on the lathe and indicated the face of the first registry,,, it was .0015 out so i cleaned that up,, and there was another face that was .001 out i cleaned that up... put it together and now I'm out .0015 still bad for a collet chuck, so i indicated the rail that was actually used to lock the chuck to the face plate and it was out .001 from one side to the next so i turned that down... now instead of a press fit the 2 halves snuggled together nicely.... i put it together leaving out the registration pins and with the assembly screws loose and put it on on the spindle... i indicated it in tapping hi to low with my lead mallet and gently tightened the screws until it was good and tight and with a .0001 indicator the bore was within 0-.0002 its tough to tell since just touching the spindle registers that thing... so now i have a 300 dollar Chinese collet chuck that registers precisely... so i could conceivably say 5 stars because now its a precision tool... but you decide,,, is it worth it??? only if you like a challenge and some frustration... i would have been happier if this thing had been 200-250.00 dollars and i was informed in advance it was out .004 and needed some fixin..... i probably need to drill some new registration holes for pins to hold it without slipping out... i will watch out for that... good luck machinists

EDIT... you have got to be kidding me... since i purchased mine less than a week ago they have raised this chinese junk 50 dollars... folks thats a big pass,,, back to a one star rating

the auther should be ashamed of himself... the auther says " i would like to note that there is no extractor or ejector in this design" WHAT?? there are no diagrams. very little is said about the making of the firing pin... this book is a joke

hey buddy,,, i found your book interesting... i served with you at b-36... 'iowa kid',,, i was mentioned in your book being the s.f. guy wounded by the rpg.... we spent plenty of time together,, me and eliff were best buds i'm surprised you forgot me but we rarely used our names...i have some pictures of you laying around here somewhere...Dave Eliff and i have chatted by phone a few times over the years because one of the pictures i took he wrote his name and address on the back... i was never able to locate doug sangaurd or Medford... Ronnie lafleur died a few years back... morgan was a great guy, he always wanted to get on the ground with us, when me ronnie lafleur and lum got in a fire fight with the vc it was morgans ship that came in for support... remember John Silvers?? i wonder what happened to him... we need to chat about 'herman' the camp eagle.... and the car-15... we need to chat there are plenty of stories a person would never put in a book..

3.0 out of 5 stars THE mother... yikes, September 26, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i like Rizzoli & Isles enough to have purchased and watched all of the seasons in a row... BUT.. if the seasons continue i may not buy the next... the MOTHER has grown so obnoxious and stupid that i have to scrub past her scenes... i wish they hadn't killed off Rizzoli's partner, he was good and maybe had the mom get back with her husband and move away... preferably out of the series never to return...

3.0 out of 5 stars probably not worth the extra money, September 11, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i own these and use them... they are not magic or special.. and i don't like that it wont turn-itself off.... they are accurate and robust... probably not worth the money but i'll let you know in 5 years.... the calipers i use most are these Frankford Arsenal Electronic Dial Calipers i have several sets of frankfords and they do auto off and are as accurate as the mitutoyo's.... keith fenner uses the frankfords and that is good enough for me...
