4.0 out of 5 stars I like it, October 27, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
There is not a whole lot to review about a hair dryer. There are only two settings for temperature and speed. The warm setting is VERY warm. I found that it did dry my hair quickly, in particular when using the small attachment. For styling, though, you'll want to not have anything attached. I admit to having a problem using the diffuser (the large attachment) but I think that's just because it's unfamiliar to me. It felt awkward to hold with the diffuser attached. The dryer works well, and I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love and Other Scandals, October 2, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Joan's first encounter with Tristan happened when she was a child, and he burst into her bedroom. He was her brother's friend, visiting from school, and they were wreaking havoc (as boys do) and causing Mama to disapprove of him from that day forward. Tristan has been orphaned, and raised by his uncle, along with uncle's wife, who despises him because he will inherit the title which would go to her son, IF, she had produced one. So, Tristan has never known love, and has chosen to act outrageously in order to get attention and obtain invitations to friends' homes.
As the years pass by, Joan has become a wallflower, with no suitors. She isn't really unattractive, but she is tall, and her petite mother dresses her in ruffles and lace and feathers, which are totally wrong for her. She is fully under her mother's thumb.

Joan and Tristan don't know each other that well, but when they meet, they needle each other. On one occasion, they dance, and poor Mama is scandalized, and urges Joan to never do that again. She has never forgiven Tristan for his behavior at her home when he was a child, and she harps on his current reputation.

Mama takes ill, and is urged to leave the city to recover. Joan's brother now has to handle some family business out of town, so he imposes on Tristan to keep an eye on Joan while she is being chaperoned by their scandalous Aunt Evangeline. Aunt is very different from Mama. She takes a look at Joan, and sees that everything she wears is wrong. Soon there are new clothes, a new hairstyle, and Joan is looking very attractive. Tristan comes to call, and do his duty. He really had been attracted to Joan before, even in the ugly clothes, but now he is stunned.

Before we know what has happened, Joan and Tristan are off on one adventure after another. He brings excitement and fun to her life, and she brings love to his, the love he has never known before. This unlikely couple has fallen in love, and now have to face the disapproval of her family.

The beauty of this story was watching the love develop between Joan and Tristan. Both have had to deal with unhappiness in some form, and their differences seemed to fit together perfectly. Their adventures were entertaining, as well. This is recommended as a feel-good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the premier office software, September 29, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Microsoft Office is pretty much the standard software used by most businesses and individuals. This version contains Word for word processing, Excel for spreadsheets, PowerPoint for presentations, OneNote to help keep you and projects organized, and Outlook to manage your email. This is the version that can be installed on up to five devices and is only valid for a one year subscription. I'm not a fan of this type of subscription, but the cost is lower than buying the one pc version, and this can be used on windows tablets and phones, as well. It's just a matter of determining how you will use this software and deciding which version is right for you. For those who prefer cloud storage, 27GB on MS SkyDrive is included with this subscription. This means you can log in from any pc and access the documents you have stored there. (like google drive) Although, I have not used this feature, the documentation states that you receive 60 minutes per month of Skype international calling. If you are updating from Office 2007 or 2010, you shouldn't have too much of a learning curve. The change from Office 2003 (if you are still using that version) is pretty drastic, though. There are many tutorials on the MS website to help you along. I've used this software for years, and recommend it highly. I'm particularly fond of the Outlook mail program, and wouldn't get a version that doesn't include it.

Microsoft Office is pretty much the standard software used by most businesses and individuals. This version contains Word for word processing, Excel for spreadsheets, PowerPoint for presentations, and OneNote to help keep you and projects organized. This is the version that is installed to a particular computer, and doesn't have an expiration date or require an additional annual subscription fee. (I'm not a fan of the new yearly subscription that MS is heavily promoting, so this is a big plus to me.) I rely heavily on Outlook, so it's disappointing that it's not included in this version, but that is just a consideration to take into account when you are deciding on the version of Office that's right for you. Many people use a free email service such as google, yahoo, or the internet version of outlook, and that's sufficient for them. If you are updating from Office 2007 or 2010, you shouldn't have too much of a learning curve. The change from Office 2003 (if you are still using that version) is pretty drastic, though. There are many tutorials on the MS website to help you along. I've used this software for years, and recommend it highly.

2.0 out of 5 stars I loved it for four weeks, September 22, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This review is due today, and this little speaker was about to get a stellar five star review after four weeks of use. BUT, today all of the control buttons have stopped working. The unit will not turn off. The volume and other buttons on top have stopped functioning. The volume is remaining at the medium-low setting I was using to play music from my computer. Before this happened, the speaker worked like a charm. All of my tablets, even the older, clunky large one was held perfectly in the stand. Connection was easy, and the sound was great. Battery life was long, over eight hours, and I love that it was rechargeable. I mostly used it to play music from my pc. The size is small, and I was about to purchase another to use as a soundbar for my tv. I don't know what caused all the buttons to stop functioning, there was no trauma or damage. Despite all the good points, the unit is worthless if you can't control volume or simply turn on / off. Very disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference, September 1, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Everyone has a blog. Well, today it seems like that's true. Blogging is very popular, and one of the ways to create a free blog is with WordPress. There are tutorials and instructions on the WordPress site, but they aren't always set up in an easy manner to find. This very detailed instruction manual takes you through every step, with detailed pictures, instructions, and tips. I recommend this very highly for those (like me) who are completely new to blogging, and need some hand holding along the way. Even the contents are organized in a manner to let you find whatever you need, and it has been a tremendous help to me. It's going to stay next to my pc as I'm going through the ongoing learning process of blogging and WordPress. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed review, September 1, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
After using this product regularly for 4 weeks, I have not noticed a major difference in the appearance of fine lines or puffiness around my eyes. There may be a very slight improvement, possibly from the skin just being more hydrated. I don't find the product greasy at all, as some others have reviewed. I found it smooth and soothing. It absorbs very easily. There was no unpleasant scent and no sensations on the skin, other than a feeling of being moisturized. While I wasn't expecting a miracle, I had hoped for a little more noticeable improvement. I will continue to use this product to finish the jar. I'll add to the review if there are any additional results.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I actually ordered this cookware set by accident, thinking the whole set had nonstick surfaces. It turns out only the skillets and the cookie sheets do. But I was very pleasantly surprised by this set. First of all, it is solid. Even the smallest pan is heavy. All of the lids have the holes on the sides which allow you to drain liquids without having to use another item (strainer.) This is great for pasta, and also the frozen vegetables. I love, love that feature. The cookie sheets are great for biscuits and cookies. The pans heat quickly and cook nicely. My concern was clean up of food without the non stick surface. But the pans cleaned really nicely without a lot of effort. If you leave the pans to dry in a dish rack, though, they will show water spots. They need to be dried right away to maintain the good look. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid cookware set, August 25, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have wanted a hard anodized cookware set for a long time. I usually manage to ruin the surface of non stick cookware, despite using the specified utensils. This set is awesome. All of the items are really heavy and sturdy. They heat and cook beautifully and clean up like a dream. They are not to be washed in the dishwasher, this is something I wouldn't do anyway. I'm not fond of the "look" of the handles for the lids. They are perfectly funcional, and mine is just a personal opinion about the design. I can't comment now about how they wear over time, only having had them for four weeks, but right now I'm very pleased with them and highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another lovely romance from Mary Balogh, August 4, 2013
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Our hero, Vincent, was blinded in the war at a very young age. At the same time he temporarily lost his hearing, and suffered panic attacks because he was totally unaware of where he was, or who was around him. Thankfully, his hearing returned, though his sight never will. He spent some time recovering with other wounded souls known as the Survivors. Unexpectedly, he inherits a title of Viscount. Now his well intentioned mama and sisters take turns appearing in his life, running his household, and trying to find him a bride. Vincent allows this for a while, but when he begins to finally chafe under their suffocating care, he takes his servant/friend and escapes to his childhood home.

Our heroine, Sophie, is an orphan who has been passed to relatives since her father died. She is a quiet and unassuming girl, and is nicknamed "Mouse." Her aunt, uncle, and cousin treat her like an unpaid servant. This household is near the childhood home of Vincent.

When the neighborhood learns that Vincent is in residence, his plan of solitude is no more. He has callers, and parties thrown in his honor. Sophia's aunt and uncle, in fact, plan to snag him as a husband for their daughter. At first, she wants no part of this, until she meets him. Then she sees how handsome and charming he is (not to mention wealthy) and schemes to marry him, no matter what she has to do. She plans to be compromised, by luring him outside after a dance, then leading him away for a long length of time, ensuring that honor demands he propose. Sophie observes this, and follows them on the pretext of bringing her shawl. By this time, Vincent has realized what is happening, but his blindness would not let him find his own way back. When Sophie appears, Vincent is relieved, knowing that she has rescued him on purpose. He takes her arm, and the three of them return to the party. There is no scandal, since the couple was not alone together.

However, aunt and uncle are enraged, and literally throw Sophie out of their home with only coach fare. She spends the night in church, not knowing where else to go until the coach comes in the morning to take her to London where she will somehow attempt to find work. Vincent hears of this and seeks her out. He thanks her for what she did and knows that it was the cause of her being expelled from the household. He decides that he should offer marriage. He likes her well enough, and that will stop all the matchmaking, and let him get on with his life.

Sophie realizes he is only being chivalrous, and refuses. He persists. As they are talking, they tell each other what they would ideally like from life. Sophie never had any expectations of marriage, so she says she would just like her own cottage and to be able to live independently. Vincent says he wants to be able to manage his own estate, be independent, and have his relatives go away and stop ruling his life. Eventually, he convinces Sophie to marry him, with the understanding that it will be a real (physical) marriage, but that after a year, she can live on her own in a cottage. If there is a child, they will rethink their plans.

They begin their married life. Physically, they are very attracted to one another. Soon, they have become great friends as well. Sophie does her best to overcome her shyness, and help Vincent become independent. She takes him to visit his tenants, and even gets him a guide dog. She comes up with some wonderful plans for improvements to the estate that allow him to get around, and even to ride his horse. As she is doing this for him, she is coming into her own, as well. We know that they are falling in love. We also know that each believes the other is only biding their time until the year is up. Sophie doesn't want to leave him, and he doesn't want her to go. Yet, neither will admit it, not wanting to trample the other one's dream.

Mary Balogh has created another lovely story with a hero and heroine you can't help but fall in love with, and want their happy ever after as much as they do. Highly recommended. Four and a half stars!
