What is the Customer Ratings feature?

The Customer Ratings feature extends Customer Reviews by enabling you to share the product attributes that you consider most important and then rate them on a 5-star scale.

Customer Ratings is currently a Beta feature, and is not yet available on every product.


Who can submit ratings or attributes?

Customers! Anyone who has purchased items from Amazon and is in good standing in the Amazon community can submit attributes or ratings.


How do I add or rate attributes?

You can add attributes and ratings directly on product pages. Find the link to add attributes and ratings in the Customer Reviews section of a product page, then follow the on screen instructions. You also have the option to add attributes and ratings while writing a Customer Review.


What is the number next to an attribute?

The number next to an attribute is the number of customers who have rated that attribute on a 5-star scale.


What should I share?

Please share attributes that will help other customers. Your attributes and ratings will inform other customers while making purchase decisions. The following guidelines may help:

1. Highlight what you would have wanted to know before you purchased the product
2. Be as specific as possible. For example, “Size” is generally a bad attribute because it’s not clear what exactly “Size” refers to. Instead “Portability”, “Screen size”, or “Capacity” might be better choices.

What should I not share?

Amazon is pleased to provide this feature for you to share your opinions on the products we feature. While we appreciate your time, we request that you refrain from including any of the following:

1. Profane, obscene, distasteful, or spiteful text
2. Text that might harass, abuse or threaten other members of the community
3. Any personal information about children under 13
4. Text that promotes illegal or immoral conduct
5. Phone numbers, mail addresses, URLs
6. Any form of "spam," including advertisements, contests, or other solicitations for other websites or companies
7. Anything against the license terms set forth in our Conditions of Use.

Can other customers see my attributes and ratings?

Yes, the attributes and ratings you submit are public. Your attributes will help others while they evaluate products. Likewise, you can see how others customers have rated the products you are interested in.


What if I don’t own the product?

You do not have to own a product to add attributes to it. Feel free to add the attributes that you’re interested in so customers that have experience with the product can share their ratings.


Do Customer Ratings affect my Top Reviewer Ranking?

Top Reviewer rankings are based on Customer Reviews only. The Customer Ratings feature does not impact your Top Reviewer ranking.
