I'm shocked with this TV. Since when can you buy a 50 inch TV for $400? Incredible value. 3 HDMI, 120 Hz refresh, trusurround, Dolby, Srs. I was looking for another TV for my office and for the price I couldn't be happier. My son is thrilled also since his game consoles are connected to it.
I really love this TV. This is my first flat screen TV. I did a lot of homework before zeroing on this TV.
I purchased it based on the following features: - It is a smart HDTV, LED - 60Hz and this year's model available at considerably better price as compared to even last year models with similar features. Though, I would have been very happy if I could have closed the deal at $ 650 :-p
I did see the earlier reviews for this TV but most seemed like user training issues.
The sound/picture quality is excellent. Picture quality will seem dull with the eco friendly setting of Standard. However, it is configurable per your liking and the user manual is very effective in identifying and setting up your needs. 3 HDMI + 2 USB available
I was reluctant to purchase this TV at first as it was only my second HDTV purchase and my first one was a 43 inch Samsung plasma TV. The Samsung's panel died on me about 2 weeks ago after working great since I bought it in May 2011. Luckily, I had purchased a 3 year warranty through Squaretrade and they got my refund to me super quick (highly recommended). I came across this VIZIO and it basically owns the best reviews for a 50 inch LED (now I see why), so after a little research I went for it and I really feel like I hit a home run with this one.
Picture Quality: Having previously owned the 43 inch Samsung Plasma, I can definitely say the blacks are nicer on the Samsung, but that's be supposed to be a strength for a plasma TV. Being an LED, ... full review
As a grandmother who is not as technologically advanced as the younger generation, I did have concerns about buying a television that had to be programmed and the stand installed before using. However, my fears were unwarranted. As soon as I turned it on, I was stepped through the programming and the stand or base was very simple to install. With the weight only being less than 15 pounds, I was also easily able to manuever it by myself. I was watching programs within an hour although younger people would have managed all of this in fifteen minutes.
My initial reason for wanting a newer television was due to my waning vision so had been looking into the 1080p with a 32" screen for some time. I can't believe how much I can read on that screen now that wasn't clear to me before. ... full review
I ordered the TV last week and I am awaiting arrival. however, I wanted to give a tip to those purchasing or who have just purchased. I put the TV in my cart and started a chat with an Amazon representative. I found this same unit online at Samsclub for $698 and let them know so they would price match. I then got the prime membership $30 rebate on top of that price match. I just figured maybe that would help some people out. Even if you have already purchased it Amazon will price match up to 14 days after your order. (THE OFFER IS NOW GOOD FOR $20 OFF FOR PRIME MEMBERS MARCH 23 2014 however, that is subject to change of course)
Update after I received the T.V.: Well, first of all, as far as the $30 rebate goes; I am not sure if that was just ... full review
This is our second plasma TV. We have a high-end plasma and now this LG 42" to replace a 15yo CRT. The picture is excellent and compares closely to our MUCH more expensive plasma. The swivel stand is a great feature and the menu has multiple options for the settings you prefer. It has a shiny screen so for best viewing you should place in a room where bright light will not reflect on it. I researched many tv's including LED & LCD and found nothing beats plasma in picture quality and price. Very happy with this purchase.
"Great value - SOLID for mounting 40-50" LCD's" - By P. Russo
Don't buy one of these from Best Buy for $300.
Don't pay for someone to install one of these unless you can't operate a drill.
These Cheetah mounts are great. I have one APDAM3B (newer model) & one APDAM2B. They take no more than an hour to install - and that's with finding the studs (I would not mount one of this without standard 16" studs), making sure everything is level, double checking your measurements, etc.
They are extremely versatile (should fit most TV's and most homes) and very sturdy.
My LCD TV's are 40-50 lbs, but I would have no qualms about installing a big 100 lb Plasma.
The instructions are decent, but remember they can't account for every house and every TV.
We replaced our 35" Toshiba Tube T.V. with this. Wonderful replacement. We don't play games or connect to Netflix, etc...so the sound is great and we have not felt a need to buy a speaker bar yet. The picture quality is great. I did need to work with the settings to get the picture we need for the lighting in our living room. I would highly recommend this product.
Seiki Digital 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV is a great TV at a great price. This Seiki Digital TV has an amazing picture and is under 20 pounds. The user menu has alot of features that allows you to change the contrast and brightness as most TV do, but TV also has a sleep timer so that it will turn itself off if you are like me and fall asleep while watching TV.
The TV has all the connections you will ever need and more. The TV also has good built-in speakers produce high-quality, crisp and clear audio stereo sound, and even has a powered by high-quality amplifier.
This TV is a great Christmas gift and I would definitely recommend it.

I just bought this TV last night, so I don't have a laundry list of complaints or compliments. HOWEVER - I do not have cable or satellite - I only do digital antennae and internet apps. This is TV #3 - #1 is a Vizio with apps, #2 is an LG older model - I use with Roku. I was looking for Vizio, as I love our Vizio...but decided to go with this LG model because
#1: similar price as vizio model we were looking at, #2 it has built n apps, (as does Vizio) #3 it has an internet browser (vizio does not), #4 we just bought an LG sound bar, and liked that all the LG things can be linked together. #5 1080/120hz (vizio model also had)
So, I'm thinking that the two items that were different - especially that it has ... full review
