I purchased this item for my son and have to say that I am quite impressed. The moon has a very realistic appearance and works well. The moon has a light sensor but can be controlled manually via the remote.
The remote has exceptional range and the moon is very responsive. Being able to control the phases allows for the adjustment of light output by the moon. The build quality seems good and overall I am please.
This little machine is great, but a little confusing. There are several different settings and the little paper that describes the settings keeps falling off. But it's fun to "make" the rainbow with the settings and it stays on until you turn it off. My 7 year old son loves it and the small size is easy for him to put away until he wants to see it again.
"Great nightlight" - By D. Logan (Columbia, MD United States)
My husband and I actually bought the turtle for ourselves. It sits on a chair in our bedroom - we turn it on every night before bed. The turtle is very cute and has three color lights to choose from (blue, white and green). The stars are kinda blurry with the white light, but are clear with the green and the blue. The light is soft and lasts just long enough to get to sleep.
"Good product for what it is, nothing more, but sometimes less..." - By J.E.F (Fuzzy Rabbitsville)
I read through all the reviews currently for this product and it's easy to see that some people expected way too much from this toy.
It takes a bit of common sense to know that this thing's not going to light up a room with rainbows bright and sharp (even real rainbows are not super sharp and bright, depends on the water vapor and where you and the sun are), nor can it make rainbows that dance, move, etc- it just makes a pretty light that looks like a rainbow- that's it, nothing more.
Though in some people's cases, it may be less since some units don't work as well as the one I got as a gift. I have no complaints so far.
Mine works great and still does after my nearer-towards-rough handling (on purpose for durability reasons). It will break if you really try to, ... full review
My daughter, age 4, loves her butterfly. I had no issues with ordering or receiving this product and she has had hours of fun with it since it arrived. She carries it with her when it's time for bed and we talk about butterflies, the moon and stars while she settles for the night. No regrets here!
We have only had this nightlight for about a week now, but so far I love it! It does give off more light than most nightlights, but that was what we were looking for as my son as a big room and does not like the dark. When I received the light I was pleasantly surprised to find that it does have an on/off function. If you put the button and go through all the colored light options, give the button one more push and it will turn off. So you have the option to use the auto on/off (which I do not really like) or to turn it off manually. Another big plus for us was the option to have it one solid color instead of changing. We had one that only changed colors and my son did not like it. I ... full review
"Dream Lites Snuggly Puppy light" - By shopping lady (west hurley, ny United States)
I gave this product 5 stars because my 3 year old granddaughter loves it. I see no educational value and not sure of the durability since it can't be thrown into a washing machine. She does take it with her when she sleeps elsewhere. I purchased an adapter instead of using batteries. It is kept on the night table or dresser when she sleeps and left on the entire night. When the stars no longer display in the morning she gets up. There is an on/off switch underneath the animal and it can be set for 20 minutes. For those who stated you can purchase this item at Walmart, Kmart and Target at a much lower price. You can not. These stores only carried the Dream Lites Pillow not the animals with the lights which light up the room at night with starts. ... full review
"May the FORCE Be with You!" - By BMD (Atlanta, GA)
I bought this lightsaber room light for my nine-year-old son, and he absolutely loves it. Assembly and mounting are easy enough if you want to use the lightsabeer only as a room light; however, my son wanted to be able to take it off of the wall mount and play with it, so I made some modifications.
First, I removed the two small screws that attach the lightsaber to the inside mounting bracket. This allows the lightsaber to be used without the inside bracket obstructing play.
Next, instead of drilling holes into the bedroom wall and and attaching the outside mounting bracket using the mounting hardware that is included with the product, I mounted the both parts of the mounting bracket together to the wall using double-sided foam tape. The inside mounting bracket can slide out from the outside bracket, so I secured them as ... full review
"Better than Twilight Turtle - I had both" - By Egad (Florida)
I was so torn between Tranquil Turtle and Twilight Turtle that I bought both to use for a week to see which one my baby preferred. I was hoping he'd like the starry Twilight Turtle because it's considerably cheaper, but in the end when put side by side, my baby invariably chose the watery Tranquil Turtle. He loves it and it is quite beautiful. It plays a new-agey music loop that isn't annoying. It is now a permanent staple of our bedtime routine.
Pros Unlike the Twilight Turtle which is stationary, there is gentle movement displayed on your child's ceiling. It is mesmerizing to my baby. Also, there is a dial on the bottom of the turtle to adjust the brightness, and the ability to change the volume of the music. The Twilight Turtle does not have music which is another reason we ultimately went with the Tranquil Turtle ... full review
The only issue I have with this light is that it isn't very bright. It projects well on the wall close to the unit, but not bright on the ceiling, even when sitting on the dresser. And though it's not really a bad thing, the 45 minute auto shutoff seems a little long. 20 minutes would probably be sufficient for my kids to fall asleep, and would double the battery life. But my kids like it, and that's what matters.
