The first thing you should decide on while shopping choices in cheap laptops for sale is the operating system, or OS, you prefer. "Well worth the price" - By Ward Scott Watson

This computer is a great novice computer, it has all the necessary features of an entry level PC, without the junk that is usually installed. The RAM installed is adaquate, however an additional megabyte makes this PC work much better. This PC has no media slots, stereo speakers, web camera, or microphone, each of which can be purchased later. For e-mail, word processing, internet browsing, or spreadsheet calculations, this is much better than a net-book.

"Fantastic Value" - By Captain Awesome (England)

I'm based in the UK and bought my unit there. However, physically this model is nearly identical to ours (to my knowledge only the keyboard layout and socket you need for charging it differs) and I've been using Chrome OS and previous Chrome hardware for a while, so I thought I'd give my take on this device.

I've owned the Cr-48 for a while, which was a kind of test unit Google sent out to people to beta test the operating system. That came out a long time ago and none of the commercial units have felt good enough to me to justify buying, up until now. They were always a little too expensive, despite the obvious advantages.

This will be a long review. For those wanting a short summary, I'll include one at the end.

The software

For those unclear, Chrome OS (which the Chromebook ... full review

"Excellent value, performs better than the HP Stream 14" - By Lon J. Seidman (CT)

[[VIDEOID:6fffafb6c0bdcd1f2ffb55f3d373ddfb]] In many ways the HP Stream 11 is a better buy than the more expensive HP Stream 14.

This 11 inch model costs $100 less, yet has the same overall screen resolution as the larger device. The 11 also has a better performing Intel processor, an N2840 Celeron, that does better with core browsing and computing tasks. And if that's not enough, the 11 comes with a one year subscription to Office 365 so that a full version of Office can be installed on the 11. The 14 does not come with the Office subscription.

Like the 14 there are some limitations. The device is limited to 2 gigs of non-expandable RAM and has a very small 32 gig solid state disk that's also not accessible. Although 32 gigabytes is double the storage available on most Chromebooks, Windows and its applications require much more disk ... full review

"Best value in home computing" - By sking (Suffolk, VA USA)

I just received my Chromebook yesterday and already I LOVE IT. It is such an improvement over my HP laptop. It lightweight, quiet, charges fast and i'm still operating on that initial charge (over 8 hours). Everything was so easy to set up including connecting my printer via the cloud. I really like the idea that I don't have to worry about installing lots of separate software every time I change computers and worrying about keeping my virus software up-to-date. My Google settings go with me. This seems like the perfect option for most computer users. My co-worker just spent more than the cost of this Chromebook to repair and reset his laptop due to a virus. I think this is the best value in home computing.

"A perfectly good laptop" - By Jake (Seattle,WA)

To read one of the other reviews one would think the reviewer is talking about a completely different machine. My family has two of these and we have experienced none of the problems that the other reviewer has mentioned. XP is a very stable platform and we'll see if Windows Seven will live up to the hype. As far as poor sound I wonder compared to what? I've had several different laptops and netbooks and they sound tinny compared to the D620. Besides, I hook the machine up to external powered speakers to listen to my music library.
Let's face it. If Dell built poor quality equipment they wouldn't be in business as long as they have been.
This is one great piece of equipment.[[ASIN:B001U5617K DELL LATITUDE D620 14.1" WXGA]]

"Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop Is A Real Workhorse, But Needs More Ventilation Clearance Underneath! (... a quick fix, though)" - By Fred K. Garvey (California, USofA)

I purchased my used Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop on, after my trusty old WinBook J1 laptop (Windows XP) died after 12 years of hard use (don't laugh, I'm still grieving).

In my search, I opted for a Dell Latitude E6400, with Windows XP installed, although the native operating system was originally Windows Vista. As laptops these days no longer come with bundled software, it made sense to go for a seamless transition with all of my tried-and-proven applications.

And, as I always knew, Windows XP will still do everything I need it to do, especially on a laptop designed for the newer, and more resource-hogging, operating systems: I can play high-resolution movies, photoshop-type projects, digitally master music files, and blaze through the internet.

My Dell Latitude E6400 has Intel Core2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz (smallest available processor for the Dell E6400), 2.0GB RAM, NVIDIA ... full review

"Much nicer then my Acer C720" - By ApplianceJunk (USA)

I can only compare this Samsung Chromebook 2 to my Acer Chromebook C720 that I purchased in June 2014 and my 2012 Macbook Pro. The Samsung Chromebook 2 has a much nicer build then my Acer C720. The first thing I notice is the base of it has a very solid feel to it. The keys also have a nicer feel to them then the Acer C720 and feel a bit like the keys on my Macbook pro, very nice! I use the Chrome Remote Desktop App on my Chromebooks so I can access my Mac from my Chromebook. The Chrome Remote Desktop App makes my Chromebook all that much more useful. I debated on just getting another Acer C720 for $199 or spending a extra $50 and get the Samsung Chromebook 2 as my Acer C720 still works just fine for me and I was just looking to get ... full review

"Awesome phone- Awesome features." - By J. Singletary

This phone is wonderful. I have my Amazon App on it and it works brilliantly. I love that it has all kinds of apps to choose from and may i recommend wallpapers HD as a wallpaper app. The flashlight is a great feature and a neat selling point. I however AM confused as to why it looks like it has a front facing camera on the front if it doesn't/ That actually REALLY bothers me as someone who is just naturally obsessive. Also, This phone has great battery staying power and i have the bluetooth on all the time. I use the Pixler app to edit my photos though because somehow the regular photo editing app is kind of weird. Pixler is an easy to use app and has great features. I have Pandora on here and it streams rather well and Netflix is flawless on the big screen. I ... full review

"Apple's lightest full-featured notebook" - By Cuyler

There are lots of positives. First, the aluminum unibody design is both gorgeous and practical. The precision construction gives the whole unit a solid feel. Aluminum and glass won't wear out like the plastic on many other laptops. The silver matte finish with black keys looks classy as well.

Fingers glide easily over the large, glass trackpad. The trackpad also operates as a mouse button -- it takes a small amount of pressure to click it. Other trackpads I've used often register a click just putting my fingers down -- the MacBook Pro's trackpad gives physical feedback which reduces those mis-clicks.

Multiple-finger gestures make it a snap to navigate through documents and websites. Pressing with two fingers instead of one performs the equivalent of a right click. Swiping with 2 fingers scrolls the current window. Spreading fingers apart zooms in; ... full review
