I liked my camera, it was a gift and from the outset I kept it in a good camera bag, and on my wrist when using it to prevent dropping it, since I am a perfectionist. Hate scratches and dings. Has a good size LCD screen on the back. The camera took decent pictures for an entry level camera and I posted loads on facebook. Has a rechargeable battery which is great, plugs into computer USB port to charge. Easy to remove battery and memory card. Battery cover comes open all the time by accident, irritating but nothing falls out and a piece of tape would fix that. I only ever dropped the camera once, went on a hike and forgot to put the wrist strap on my wrist and you guessed it, dropped it flat on its back. It is now dead, the back of the camera picked up ... full review
"CAN'T READ JAPANESE? I AM HERE TO HELP YOU QUICKLY TURN THE CAMERA FROM JAPANESE TO ENGLISH!" - By Karen Sabol
If you do not speak/read Japanese and bought this camera---I AM HERE TO HELP YOU QUICKLY TURN THE CAMERA FROM JAPANESE TO ENGLISH!!! I LOVE Casio cameras-- I feel they are the best in the dark and take high quality pictures and is reliable! Wanted to upgrade my version, read all about this and felt this was it-- I almost returned it because I was going NUTS trying to change it from Japanese to English (spent over an hour). I downloaded the manual online, becaue manual you get is Japanese, manual did not help for language, but post change need it so still download. The camera being in Japanese you can not read it from what the manual tells you to do, so I went to Google translater-- HELPED, still was at a loss and then started to scroll to see if anything resembled what I ... full review
A bit disappointed with image noise visible even at iso80. But very soon realized I was compared it with prosumers and DSLRs with much larger senor. Noise is expected for such small senor at 100% crop.
The 'Premium Auto Pro' mode of this cam actually done a lot of post processing. Of course, this is far from bullet prove but does help in most of the cases. Some reviewers complained it took longer than expected between shots. This is time taken for post processing. You can always switch to other mode for faster shot.
I used to do a lot of post processing. After an hour of shooting, I need to spend hours on post processing. When most post processing offloaded to the cam, I found that it is more fun for snapshots. Not to worry hours of extra work.
I had purchased a digital camera that included this charger but in the midst of my relocation, I lost the charger. It took me forever to locate one until I checked out Amazon.com. VIOLA! There it was. It came within 3 days & it was packaged with similar packaging that my camera came in. It worked INSTANTLY & has still kept my camera working without constant hassle.
i mainly purchased the camera for the high frame rate to make slow motion videos. i found the 240frame setting to work best for a balance of quality and frame rate and is great for capturing fast human motion. it also has a large variety of setting and functions i didn't know prior to purchasing the camera, i would recommend reading almost the entire manual before using the camera. it also takes good pictures in a large variety of environments and is great for low light pictures.
the only drawbacks i can think of is the limit of recording time to just to about 30 minutes for one video and when recording a 30 minute video in 1080 the camera gets warm from the energy used.
"ZR400 is fantastic camera for Nepal Trek" - By cotty lowry
I took it on a 17 day trek around Annapurna in Nepal. Very little electricity there so the huge battery life was the initial reason I purchased the ZR400. However what I came to love about the camera was the low light and best shot features in the software that allowed me to photograph the interiors of Buddhist temples (with permission of course) without using flash. The Best Shot feature was used for most of my photos because of the contrast between blue sky, snowcapped 26,000 ft peaks and river valleys -- all in the same shot.
I purchased a 2nd battery as a backup, but never needed at all, in fact with periodic charging never even came close to running out of battery life. This is a great little camera!
Nicely padded, a strong clip to attach to your belt and a neck strap. Small and compact. Ideally, it would have a couople of small velcro closed pockets for a spare battery and memory chip. Other than that it is a real value.
