My cat has tried every toy under the sun and this is BY FAR the best cat toy ever! It moves like a real mouse because of the way it is attached to the wire...wiggles and appears alive. My cat goes nuts for it and grabs it in her mouth and carries it off, pole and all!!! She has chewed it up for several months and it has lasted pretty well. My only problem was the the metal wire ended up splitting, so I am going to buy a new one. LOVE THIS TOY!!!!!!!!
mousie loves birdies! she likes to watch them at the feeder. oh, she'll chase balls and pounce on fuzzy rodent toys, but birds are where it's at!
i can't really add anything to all the other glowing reviews of this product. just look at the customer photos of the cats playing; how can you resist?
but, i want to add a note about the size of this toy. if you have a small apartment, or crowded furniture, you may want to get the 3-sectional rod and use only one or two pieces, instead of the original 1-piece rod, which is 3 feet long. and/or roll up the string (which is also nearly 3 feet long). otherwise, you may not have room to use it.
although you can dangle it like most teasers, the true beauty of it is when you make ... full review
"The Cat Loved It...A Little Too Much" - By Tom Kelly (Keyport, NJ United States)
My wife and I have a cat that's a little overweight, so we got this after seeing the "My Cat From Hell" guy use it on his show on the Animal Planet network. Well, the cat loved it. The feathered bits flap like a bird and she'd chase it and swat at it, displaying more energy than we generally see from her with just about any other toy.
Of course, the string frayed and broke. We managed to tape the feathered bit back on, and it still bobbed and weaved like it used to, but now we're a little cautious about pulling it out and using it.
This item the "Da Bird" is the greatest. I am a cat breeder and have alot of cats and this is by far the best toy out there for cats. They never tire of this toy. When I pull it out to play the cats line up and wait for the toy to start moving. It is not like all the other feather toys out there. This is special and it twirls and makes a noise like a bird and the cats go nuts for it. They dive off furniture, will do flips jumping for it....very fun for both cat and owner. I have bought this for many friends, and they have all loved it! If you have a cat you have to get this....
"Not the original but much cheaper" - By Tracy Larrabee (Santa Cruz, CA USA)
I had a sweet marmalade cat loung [...] from a year ago and my cats loved it so much it became quite worn out. I looked, and found that a replacement was more than 300 dollars and I was feeling cheap. Finally I gave in and decided to replace their favorite thing.
I was very surprised to find this very similar object for about 1/10 the cost. I ordered it. The cats love it, and it is about the same size, but the quality is much lower. For example, an adult human can stand on the old one without fear of damaging it. This is not the case for this flimsier version.
Bottom line: at least 3/4 as good for 1/10 the price is pretty darn good. If you want to pay the higher price, get the higher quality item, and you are willing to accept a different ... full review
"Humane way to deal with territorial cats" - By Susan J. Budge (Boston, MA USA)
One of our cats likes to piddle on the futon in our porch. I have two ssscats set up in there. Now she stays away even though they are not turned on. She just has to see them and she runs. It is a safe, effective, and humane way to deal with any kitties who might have a favorite spot to pee, other than the litter box.
"Great entertainment for cats -- and dogs" - By Dannis Cole (Cuthbert, GA USA)
This simple little thing drives my cat crazy! She loves it. Our dog does, too, but I'm scared he'll tear it up if I try to play with him with it. A gentle dip with the stick and pull up, and this thing flaps, and makes a flapping sound. It's very easy to make it soar horizontally, fly in a circle, glide up vertically and dive. It moves and sounds like a real bird. It's also almost hypnotic to fly it around. Might even appeal to non-pet owners as a tool for relaxation :)
I think it's the most fun of any toy she has. As for critics who say it would be easy to build one, I disagree.
The down side is, it's very fragile. I have to be careful to relax the string and take it gently from Anya when she catches it. However, despite many ... full review
I have had the most exciting experience with this product to train my cat. I mean, I love her to death, but sometimes she is such a pain. She thinks this house is hers, and she allows us to live here. I finally broke down and got this because although she feels as though she has to lay on every surface in the house, there are some places that I don't want her to lay. The places that I want to keep her off of are the counters and food prep areas... WOW! Does this work! She'll prowl around in the middle of the night, and we'll hear PSST! Followed by jumping kitty ruckus. And that will make you laugh out loud in bed! This product may be scary, but it is safe. My only warning... be prepared to forget that the unit's on the counter in the morning. If ... full review
"Depends on what your cat likes." - By E. Turner (Lexington, KY)
This is no magic product but my 4 year old medium-sized cat likes to lay on the crinkly side and chew on the toys on the end. She'll roll around and get wrapped up in it somewhat. This is a cat that plays with the kitchen rugs, though, so I knew she'd be into something like this.
4-star review because the mat needs to be bigger to allow for multiple cats to play on it. A decent size for a couple of kittens, though.
