"MILLION DOLLAR SOUND FOR PENNIES" - By Charles Roche (Los Angeles, CA)
You will not belive your ears. For the price you cannot get better sound. ou will need to spend 5 times or more to match, let alone beat the sound qualty. Sub is powered and all the speakers look great. They will look great on stands or on end tables like I have them. They are 6 ohms which means they need more power than 8 ohms speakers to get same result. I have them with yamaha 463 receiver and they sound great. I'am very happy.
"Good If You Don't Have The Space For Bigger Speakers" - By Jake Maxwell
No matter what anyone says, when you end up buying a surround system with tiny speakers (2.5 inches in this case) there's going to be compromise (there's a reason high end speakers aren't 7 inches tall). Now, Polk Audio has done everything they could to make these speakers sound 'big', and to a degree, they've succeeded. These speakers definitely sound spacious, like the sound is coming at you from all directions, but they also seem to lack depth. For TV and low music, this system will do great, but play music loudly and the speakers won't be able to hide the fact that you're trying to force so much sound through such tiny speakers. They sound like they're screaming. That being said, at modest sound levels and for movies, this system will do a solid impression of a bigger bookshelf's and will definitely impress the average consumer. I have my Z506 hooked up to my flat screen tv, first let me say that any speakers hooked up to a TV are better than the stock TV speakers. The z506 is perfect for TV and movies and more optimized than the standard 2 speaker/subwoofer PC systems from logitech.
I previously had a 2 speaker/subwoofer PC system hooked up to my TV and it was an improvement, but the Z506 is the perfect upgrade. It spreads out the sounds and sound FX over 5 speakers. The sound is so clear, and very true. The subwoofer is also optimized for movies and tv. It provides nice bass tones that work into the total sound. No rattling no obnoxious over powering bass, so the speakers and the subwoofer work well together and one does not muffle or over power the other.
Very solid system, i have it hooked up to a denon 1910 and works great, right now my whole set up includes a samsung ln52b750, xbox360,ps3 and a samsung bd-p3600 and it all works great together!! movies are great and so are the video games!! speakers are alot louder than expected.... also the speakers were easy to hang on my walls, they all have a single keyhole. Also the system came with its own speaker cables!! if your just getting into the whole home theather game like i am!! try these out!! they are worth the price!! very solid system
We purchased a flat screen tv and it had horrible sound. We could barely hear when watching DVDs or our blu ray. We thought we would have to get up to change the volume with no remote but we could control it with our tv remote. And it's awesome. I heard sounds and words in movies that I watched many times and had never heard before. My husband and I love it. Now all we do is look at each other and say, you hear that!! Lol
For anyone that is looking for a 5.1 speaker setup in WHITE this is it. I have had this system hooked to my Pioneer VSX-1020 for about a year and couldn't be happier. The sub provides strong bass, and the small satellites are inconspicuous and provide solid sound clarity. I ended up replacing the white mid channel satellite with a black Bose VSX-10 for asthetic reasons and lost some sound quality, so now looking to replace the Bose with a black satellite instead. The flexible mounting brackets give you the ability to direct the sound right where you want them.
Ok I am not an snobbish audiophile. I like good quality, but I am not willing to pay through the nose to get the absolute best since the wife and kids are usually making noise in the house so phenominal sound quality is drowned out by nagging and yelling from somewhere. I have these set-up with the following: Onkyo 606 receiver Sony Blu-ray S570 Xbox 360 Samsung 1080p 120Htz TV from a few years back. I watch movies and listen to music and game on these and they do a great job. The price is a great incentive to getting them also. In the size room the speakers are in I don't require a sub-woofer. I had a grenade go off next to me in MW2 and the speakers rattled the house, the kid's and I got that mischievious grin on our faces...I was happy. The wife? She thought the ... full review
I hooked these speakers up to a pioneer vx812 receiver and at first I thought i was listening to a clock radio. They sounded horrible!! But then i realized that i had to recalibrate everything and had not hooked up the subwoofer correctly. Once I dialed everything in and set up the sub correctly, I couldnt believe my ears. I paid $239 for these on ebay! The first thing i did was put in the Italian Job and watched some action scenes. It sounded so good that I didnt want to turn the system off. The imaging is so good that this weekend I am going through all of my old dvds just to listen to these great speakers. The only complain I have is the cheesy plastic grills, but other than that, they are extremely well made. Best $239 dollars ever spent!

"Luxurious sound for an amazing price" - By Pace Picante (New York City)
I recently plunged into the HD market -- bought a Samsung LCD (A550), a Sony Blu-ray player (350 model), an Onkyo TX-SR606, and these speakers. I did tons of research on TVs, BDPs, receivers, and speakers. I found 3 audio/video websites that had reviewed the Energy speakers. Google "Energy 5.1 Take Classic review" and you'll find them.
Aside from what the reviews say, I fell in love with these speakers for their elegantly simple design (they look great with my TV). They are nothing flashy, and since I've owned them (about 6 months now), none of my friends have commented on my "cool-looking speakers." But they HAVE commented on the sound. They sound very fresh, alive, and well-rounded. Movies sound terrific -- the multi-channels blend seamlessly together and create this living, breathing soundfield. And like the professional reviewers say, music sounds especially ... full review
