Selection Criteria

While the term "romantic" is obviously subjective, our definition includes albums that are romantic on their face as well as albums that are sexy, sensuous, and inspire amorous or romantic feelings.
In order to qualify for this list, a title must meet the following criteria:
• Albums must not be collections, greatest hits or otherwise. Only legitimate album releases were considered.
• Only one album per artist. When confronted with multiple albums by an artist who's catalog contains many romantic albums, we chose the album we considered to be the most romantic. Otherwise, our list would be dominated by Marvin Gaye, Barry While, and Nat King Cole.
• Of course, our editors exercise their judgment regarding quality and/or historical significance. If you disagree with our choices (and there's a good chance you will), let us know in the customer discussions at the bottom of the page.
