is it just me or is the I own it box on items gone now? I remember them being there and now I don't. I got a new blu ray and I wanted to add it to my collection so that it could adjust my suggestions. Anyone else experiencing this?
"Like" is so Lame of Amazon. Why drive traffic to facebook at all? The whole single click to endorse a product is way over rated. If I truly like a product I will take the time to talk about it in my own words to "sell" my friends on it.
I successfully used http://www.amazon.com/gp/rate-it to find items and mark them as "I Own It", but I also discovered that if you have items in your wishlist, then when you delete the item, you are asked to mark if you own it and give it a rating. I wish I had known that before I used the rate-it search first, but doing it through the wishlist is actually really helpful for me as well.
When I mark the "I own it" checkbox on the http://www.amazon.com/gp/rate-it, it doesn't seem to save it. When I search for the item again, the checkbox isn't marked off.
Also, none of the items I've marked "I own it" via the http://www.amazon.com/gp/rate-it or by adding then deleting something from my wishlist to mark the "I own it" checkbox appear in My Media Library. I don't think Amazon is saving the items I mark a "I own it" which is too bad. I liked going to My Media Library to make sure I wouldn't re-buy anything I already owned.
I'd like to have the "I Own It" checkbox/rating back on the product main pages, too!
I have lots of stuff that I already own on vinyl/CD/DVD that I don't want to see on "Recommended for you." I've been collecting/buying/WORKING in video and music stores long before Amazon existed, and I liked their previous way to "add" my "library" -- straight from the product page.
"When I mark the "I own it" checkbox on the http://www.amazon.com/gp/rate-it, it doesn't seem to save it. When I search for the item again, the checkbox isn't marked off."
After you mark items in the rate-it wizard - go to the "Items you've rated" page and you should see the new items at the top of the list with the star ratings you put in and the I-Own-It check box. AFAICT, the wizard isn't tied to your account - it's just a tool to input data.
Do you have them burned as MP3s? That's how I keep track of my music collection.. I use a program called MP3Tag, but I also think that you can export out your library data from iTunes in a form that most spreadsheets can use.
