Most people are focused on the guns. They are not the problem. We have had guns in this country from the beginning. Mass shootings started with mind altering drugs which cause depersonalization. Depression, RDS, stress, and any other drug company invented malady requiring medication which a withdrawl from resposiblity for actions performed. Get the press to exploit this topic with intensive investigation instead of focasing on guns.
The guns are a correlation, that's why they are called shootings. But, the people doing the shooting and their history of taking pharmacuticalsare a bigger more importent coorilation.

Thanks for the insight, Gene! I think we should give more guns away so that everyone household has one - I'm pretty sure that'll reduce gun violence to zero in this country!

There's no reason for yachts, sports cars or limousines in civilian life either, elevgrl.

right on, and to add to these people's stress and drugs is the violent video's and movies and songs they chose to listen to and watch. also what are these peoples parents, brother's,sister's and friend's doing. someone has to see their aborant behavior festering.if we can afford secret service staff to guard our president and their family as well as all presidential canidates and visiting heads of staff, why not our kids? no one will make me regisiter my gun for self protection of my family until they can prove all the BAD people and idiots relieved of their guns. And we need to start executing those convicted and do away with endless appeals, especially when there is no mistake of theit guilt. Why do we let them live for 20years or more even when we do finnaly execute them; Frank Getz, Jr.

People kill other people just like reckless drivers kill people. I haven't heard anyone wanting to outlaw cars.

People don't drive around killing people intentionally with their cars. Don't be ridiculous. Besides. If that is tour mentality then if you need a license to drive a cat then you should need one to own a gun

Your talking like a child..one has nothing to do with the other..grow up then come back as an adult

Exactly. We didn't grow up watching video ganesh that show women being raped and people blowing other humans heads off with guts flying against the wall.

Bojanglez says:
@ Rowdybob - maybe because the primary purpose of a car is NOT to maim/kill, whereas that is EXACTLY the primary purpose of a gun?

You can kill someone with pretty much anything.

Let me know if this is too complex and you need to slow down?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 1, 2013 2:45:33 PM PST
elevgrl says:
Yeah you can kill someone with anything but it will be one person not 26 in 35 seconds..try again to make yourself sound smart, its not working.

Good point. License to drive a Cat[erpillar] requires demonstrated proficiency as well as liability coverage. Making those mandatory, then making liability coverage impossible for ordinary citizens to get, would be one indirect way to make guns unobtainable by ordinary citizens while simultaneously generating fee revenue for the state.

In todays era..and I'm not talking 200+ years ago, I need over 3 licenses just to do my job which involves public transportation. That does not include the extra training I have to maintain throughout the year just to keep my job skills fresh..
But the bottom line is, If I want to work then I will comply. It should be a minimum to obtain a CPL before you can walk away with a high powered deadly weapon.

I remember someone saying a good idea for keeping the guns out of murdering psyco hands was to have any potential gun owners do a shortened term with the National Gaurd, like a two year commitment.

I think that would be an awesome idea because

A it teaches marksmenship and survival techniques,
B it helps weed out the crazies who have no business with guns
and C we are all obligated to be a part of supporting and protecting our country

Oddly, mass shootings also started with the general availability of high capacity magazines. Which cause seems a more likely reason for mass shootings: mind altering drugs or the ability to shoot masses of bullets?

That's a hard one..look at Canada, they have as many or more guns than the states do and yet they have very few shooting if any at all. It's the whole state of mind. We have under lying issues here...it may be all of those things

Well in ANY situation there are going to be those who slip through the cracks, no situation or idea is infallable, hence the non Utpoia we live in...

Yap, once we have all shot each other to death, there won't be anybody around to perform any act of gun violence.

Mind-rotting media and creeping idiocracy factor in the mass shooting epidemic too.
