Went to buy some gas at the place I usually stop at - cars were lined up 6~7 deep at each pump.. Looked at the sign and apparently their price is $2.94 for regular right now.. Didn't want to wait, so I went down the street and bought some for $3.11 a gallon..
The average cost of gas in June of 2008, the early stages of the heavy summer driving season and during the presidential campaign, was $4.00 per gallon. The 2008 gas crisis hit its peak one month later with prices averaging $4.11 per gallon.

By August, the cost fell to $3.74 and continued to fall until the price averaged $2.07 just after Election Day in November, when Mr. Obama was elected president.
