So Deval Patrick has banned travel on all roads in Massachusetts, because its snowing. $500 fine if caught driving, unless its an emergency vehicle. I have power, internet, 4 wheel drive. But I guess martial law is in order due to SNOW!!!! Unreal! I drive in this crap all the time. I hate you Deval Patrick. I can't wait to help vote your sorry ass out
Mick, I get it. Living in Cape Canaveral it is a hurricane that makes the government get antsy and make demands. Few years ago they told us to leave or die. Well I am still here and only lost one panel of fence through the whole storm. Funny thing is none of them are in office anymore. Storms come and go, learning to survive them is what is important. By the way, I just made a "gold box" deal, so there!

Tell that to the victims of Sandy who thought the same way you do................ Or Katrina or Ivan........... If the govs KNEW where exactly a storm will hit and how much damage it would do, then I guess they'd be --------------- GOD!!
Take the high road and say you weren't gong out anyway. All you need to do is get stuck behind someone else who crashes. Then the mess begins and there's no way out. It's the other guy you have to worry about. It only takes one and it's not necessarily you.
Maybe this is somehow related to the Gold Box discussion. In a can't-drive-anywhere-prisoner-in-your-own-home-in-rural-Massachusetts-blizzard, you'd think Amazon could at least offer us some blizzard specials. I'm down for a phat blizzard special, even if I do live in Ohio (we'll have a blizzard sooner or later).
So the fact that meteorologists are predicting a storm of historic proportions in the N.E., including with power outages, possible coastal flooding, days of travel disruption, along with the usual death count, means all you're concerned about is being told to stay inside? You may be Iron Man incarnate, but the rest of the area are clearly better off and safer doing as little travel as possible until this weather front has moved on. I'm wondering whether you're just angry all the time, drunk or stoned, or just looking for responses to fill that void you have.
Seriously Mike, look at the weather you're about to get. Let sanity guide you for the next day or two. You can save the universe on Monday.
Unless it's an emergency, stay home. You are in the way of snow plows, emergency vehicles and repair vehicles that are transporting patients or repairing power lines for people. I recall years ago, my wife wanted to go "out to dinner" with friends from work during a snow storm. I told her that was stupid, just stay home. She called at 9pm stating she was stuck on an exit. So she's blocking the exit, making things unsafe for everyone trying to get off the road. $250 later (out of my pocket), a tow truck arrives and tows her only about 500 feet off the exit...not even home. Real smart.
Right. Last time they all predicted a foot plus in Mass a few couple weeks ago we got an inch. Please, forcasters only make a prediction ... a guess. Common sense as things unfold needs to be accepted and embraced. 4pm total ban on the roads for the entire state was an overreaction by way too many hours. To hear lab couriers tell me they were done at 1pm today becasue of the roadway's "state of emergecy" when the sidewalks were still clear without being shoveled was a hoot.
There are a lot of people still at work, they should stay there? While I am a fan of staying home (New Hampshire) during a storm you cannot tell people they cannot go out, this is not a police state... nor is MA, tho it is closer to one;).
Is this a guy thing or something? Every guy that I know thinks they're the best driver in the world, rain or snow. Most also think they'd win the Nascar championship if only they had more than the beater they drive daily. (:
