Lightening deals - something not quite right

Ok never done lightening deals before but tried yesterday no luck but read the faq you can't use one click. Fair enough, tried again today bang on the time, and as with yesterday despite being signed in, using a T1 very fast connection I get the item in my cart at the usual price, not even on the wait list.

Now I understand there is a lot of competition for these items but it might be better for everyone if we knew how many units were available at the "lightening deal" For myself, it's just not worth the time to follow these things. Go to Costco, get the extra year of free protection Costco provides and no hassles.

No hassles besides fightning for parking spot, fightning crowds to get the item you want, waiting in a line 5 miles long to pay, etc, etc.

I will take online shopping anyday over the hassles of shopping in stores.

That might be true normally but I think that crowd went to Walmart today. I just got back from Costco and got a new tv stand and monitor and experienced none of what you described. In line to pay for two minutes.

The frightening thing is two people think your post is relevant to the point of the discussion. Nothing lightning about Amazon's deal at least as far as how many units, why a T1 wouldn't even get to the wait list, would be better if it were lightened and the deals were a little more transparent.

This is freaking ridiculous. I wait 5 hours to get an external hard drive and then when the timer counts down to start the deal the add to cart button doesn't even pop up. every other deal does but not this one. I have to reload reload page and find that its now sold out, of course it is i had to wait 10 seconds. Stupid amazon, i'm a prime member and they can't even get the shit to work properly. Its not fair if i don't even have the option of clicking it. Thats like trying to win a horse race without opening the gate. I think ill consider cancelling prime.

I have done lightening deals for the past 2 years. It is a bit confusing on how it works-Amazon doesn't explain it very well. BUT you click when the time ends on the countdown clock, this puts you in the waitlist-normally, then as people complete the checkout OR Not, you will win the item. You have to watch this for a While, usually you will come up to complete your order in anywhere from 20-45 min. Then you have 15 minutes to finalize the order and pay. You WON'T see the lightening deal until the very end of check out! And then it will reflect the total at the very end. It takes a bit of patience, but worthwhile. I got a $499.99 computer last year for $279 plus free shipping and it arrived fast and well packed. Give it another chance-but be patient.

I did that and it put it into the cart at the normal price, it reflected normal price and stayed normal price throughout the process. Same thing happened yesterday. I understand it's a bit of a lottery but something just doesn't feel right about this. Glad you got your deals and thanks for taking the time to explain the process

I think it'd be more prevalent to complain about store's policies of widely advertising "Doorbusters" and then only having 5-6 in stock. At least when they do it online you can say "Oh well, at least I didn't camp outside in the cold for it for 6 hours."
