Eric Preston says:
Thousands of employees convicted of pedophilia

Official organizational efforts to keep the crimes secret

Continuing to pay benefits to former employees that were convicted

Complaining about amounts of pay-outs and filing for bankruptcy siting large payout amounts, while paying public relation firms hundreds of thousands to handle the issue

Promoting employees that took part in coverups

Appointing the employee that was in charge of handling complaints of this nature to the organizations highest office

Hopefully we will finally see the end of the Vatican and the entire Catholic church organization, while keeping the religion they were pretending to advocate for intact for any believers.

OK, thanks for focusing on the important part.

Arguments can be made for any of those organizations, all of which would be determined by what you personally think is more corrupt of an action. Pedophilia vs. Price Gauging for example, but can we all just agree that the Catholic Church, as an organization, is very corrupt?

There are good and bad in all religions. do you think islam is better or worse than catholocism? I guess that would depend if your son was a victim of sex abuse or if he died in the world trade centers. judaism might be worse if you children weren't sexually abused but died from israeli bombings.
All religion is very corrupt and all religion provides comfort to its people. it's just a matter of what side of the clergy you are on. but I think maybe the Nazi organization was a little more corrupt, like alot more corrupt.

I can admit that all organizations (religious, businesses, governments) have a common factor....corrupt people that have been allowed to use financial gain as a means to get away with immoral behaviour

Not really. You still could have molesters abusing their power.

that's not the truth at all because they would still be pedophiles whether married or not and there are alot of priests who have sex with adult women. i think that's sort of a dumb theory. did you make it up yourself or read it in a magazine?

Islam is not as hierarchical. Local imams determine matters of faith and doctrine, in the catholic church, the pope is the one who ultimately does this. Of course, there is a bad side to local control, as we saw when Zahwahiri. binLaden and al-Alawki -- people who were not appointed as high level leaders and who were arguably not fully educated in their religion -- preached that suicide bombers would go to paradise -- a teaching that is directly contradicted by the Koran, which condemns people who commit suicide to hell.

If you want a serious discussion on this subject, you are so in the wrong forum. Try the religion or Christianity forum.

It doesn't, or at least shouldn't, have anything to do with religion. The organization could be selling tea, it's what the employees and management have been doing to cover-up it's wrong doings that is the issue.

The fact that these employees have been put in a position of trust and power has to do with their religious basis, but other organizations have done the same thing that do not have that.

Rob says:
There is no chance at a serious discussion on religion. Facts and religion don't mix. Faith and reason are two separate paths. It is the reason religious authorities have so much power. They can tell their flocks that suicide bombings will get you into heaven, that the pedophile that got moved into your parish has been forgiven and is now a decent person, that the world will end on a specific date, or even that the world is flat and you are a heretic if you believe otherwise. People see religious leaders as being closer to God and therefore in a better position to know what God is thinking so they will blindly follow whatever those leaders come up with because they are afraid of offending God. The truth can be debated forever, but it will not change what people believe.

Mr. Jumps says:
Religion comes down to who has the biggest church.
600 years ago there was the catholic church. There was no other form of christianity. They didn't exist. Catholics had to get up, toil in the fields and pay for the churches. They had to fight off muslim incursions into europe in order to keep the bible safe through the dark ages. They did it all. Without Catholics there was no Bible. Without catholics there was no rallying cry to keep the world safe from evil. Without Catholics there was no missionaries (after the creation of Disney World there was no more missionaries).

Today you have people with hair weaves, painted nails and big fat butts pulled into stretch pants becoming pastors inventing new religions like methodists, protestantism and all kinds of shenanigans. Oh its easy to be a critic now in the 21st century. Where was your Mcnugget eating butt in 1410? Nowhere cause Catholics were holding up the world. In fact all the non-catholic schism religions are indirectly responsible for the rise of bomb tossers because they weakened the central authority of the catholic church.

So i want you to go out there and hug a priest, tell him thanks priest for carrying on the good word to the world, and keeping me safe from obesity and stupidity. Thanks priest I love you. Thank you for keeping Satan at bay.
