The GB deal for Klipsch Sub-12HG Synergy Series 12-Inch 300-Watt Subwoofer is a good price for a decent sub. The built -in BASH amp alone retails fro $170-. That said, this is a discontinued model. There is a newer model of this sub, to wit: the front firing Model RW-12d 12", but it will cost you $100- more.
"Performance", unless a unit is damaged in some way, is purely a personal matter. Both subs I referenced are decent, ported, LFEs. The "current" model, is "front firing", while the GB Deal model is "down firing. Again, a matter of personal preference. They both have nearly identical amplifiers, and excellent warranties. Your comment seems to be less concerned with the item for sale than providing negative remarks. I certainly don't care if you have a subwoofer, how old it is, or what it sounds like. My point is that a retailer, any retailer, in the interest of full disclosure should identify "discontinued" products. Electronic devices in general achieve obsolescence at a very rapid rate. I like to try to stay as far as possible ahead of that curve by seeking out and buying the very latest technology available whenever possible. As such, a $50- discount on an item that is "obsolete" when I buy it, is not to me, such a great deal. ...and so, I do see every reason to be concerned with something that's "discontinued".
