Other years, Amazon has extended the 30 day return period to run through the end of Dec., at least, but this year I haven't seen anything about an extension like that. I want to buy my daughter a Kindle Fire, but don't want the 30 day return period to be expired before she's had a chance to use it for a week or two after Christmas. Anybody know what I'm talking about, or has anybody heard anything about this happening this year?

From http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=help_search_1-3?ie=UTF8&nodeId=901888&qid=1352958717&sr=1-3

===========
Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012, may be returned until January 31, 2013, for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed in our Product Return Policies Help pages.

There have already been a couple threads about this here, too.

Thank you for the link, and thanks to the OP for asking. I hadn't seen anything yet about this year's holiday period.

You are correct. The title and the question in the OP do not match, and I chose to address the post, and ignore the title.

Well, Slarti, I have seen you start threads with the same problem. Actually, yours had titles not even remotely related. They were just to get people to open the thread.

So I failed all the way around - but at least thanks to Warren I got the information I needed.

And yes - it was about return policy and not warranties. I've had problems with word finding ever since a monster of a case of encephalitis a decade ago. Let's see some of you snotty folks run a fever of 104 F for more than a month and still have enough brain cells left to string any kind of coherent sentence together . . .

Thanks again, Warren, for figuring out what I meant as opposed to what I actually said, and providing the "right" answer.
