Have not done a lot of reviews, nor discussions, add old age to that and I have a question. lol What does it mean when a review says i.e. 2 of 10 ppl found your review helpful? Does that mean 10 people viewed it, and 2 people voted it helpful??

A. Kim says:
Not quite. In actuality plenty more than 10 people will read the review. Most never bothered to note whether the review helped them or not by clicking the button for yes or no.

10 voted, and 2 of those found it helpful

oh.. I get it, I think. So that would mean in the above instance that 10 ppl voted, 2 found it helpful and the other 8 did not, right? TY for helping to clarify.

Exactly. Ten people voted. 8 no, 2 yes. You'll probably find that people often find praise more helpful than criticism. A lot of folks read the reviews of things they've bought and regret it when they find that they should've read them before purchase.

Vine reviews are from people that got the item for nothing, and free stuff is usually nicer than paid for items. So Vine reviews are rarely low rated. Unless of course the product is absolute garbage.

I wish any review that is not about the product was deleted. Too many one star reviews from people who thought they got slow delivery, and skew the average.

Or reviews that many people voted on and none found useful.

When you see a review that is not about the product (delivery, the seller, etc), then just click the NO vote and a link will appear to "report as inappropriate." Amazon doesn't always remove the review, but sometimes they do.

OldAmazonian says:
So you think a review calling out a seller for shipping falsely described goods is inappropriate, even though it may be far the most effective way to stop that false seller?

It usually seems to correlate pretty well to how helpful the review actually is. A review such as "this was a great and comfortable pair of shoes" is more helpful than "I ordered this on Wednesday and didn't receive it until the next Monday!!!!!"

This belongs in Seller Feedback not a product review.

Soon buried in seller feedback.

When I write a negative review, it's to keep others from
making the same mistake I did, when I bought the product.

If you leave seller feedback in the product review, people won't know who you're talking about, and think you're just a dolt who's leaving feedback in the wrong place.

Not if you name the seller they won't.

That's not what that means. It means 8 people voted it unhelpful. All other interpretations are your own.

LegoGirl says:
I think complaints about sellers should be in seller feedback. Even if the reviewer named the bad seller, the rating affects the PRODUCT for all sellers including Amazon.

I do wish Amazon would have more "obvious" places on the site where seller feedback can be easily displayed, though.

I always thought it meant x number found it helpful and y number disagreed with it (or found it not helpful)

It's all too subjective to be taken literally, more times than not, that is...
