Marilyn,
I was so sorry to learn today that Stephen passed away last year. I edited a number of his books as "Chile" and remember every book dedication was to you. I wondered why I had not heard from him for so long. Please accept my sincere condolences.

If you have any interest in getting in touch with me, please leave a comment on the last post of my chilechews blog. I don't publish comments with personal information so it would be a way to get in touch with me privately if desired.

Hi Leper, I was very surprised to hear from you. We are coping. Life is very dull without Steve (Nova). I am sure that Steve is smiling and thanking you from above. Hope all is well. Take care and hope to talk with you soon!

I miss Nova. I keep checking back here, why I don't know. I can't imagine how tough it must be for his family. People are still thinking about you Steve.

Good Morning Mr. Dansie,

I am sure I did not say "Thank You" for your help and friendship with Steve! I just thought I would let you know. Happy Thanksgiving!

Marilyn and Elizabeth

Thank you for your email. If I had access to Steve's email, I would have responded to you sooner. It feels as though it was yesterday that he has passed away. I am in shock that 6 months has passed already. I wish that he could still come home but in reality that is not true. His books are amazing and the show a part of him that exists in his life. Thank you and I hope that you will keep in touch!

I don't know what to say. I was surprised when several messages didn't get replied to and there were no updates on his work. It never crossed my mind that he could have passed. I have followed his work for a while and we had exchanged emails a few times. I really enjoyed the AA series and was looking forward to more works from him. it has been almost six months since he moved on and I just found out about it today. I considered Stephen a friend and I will miss him. Thanks to his friends and family for putting the information out there.
I will miss you, Nova

Hi Kelli,
Thank you for your very touching note. It is bringing tears to my eyes as I write this. The character is very much like Steve. As I reread the stories, I have to laugh at some of the things that he remembered and wrote in the book. They were minor details or sayings that to me brings him back to life. Thank you. He does have one more half written book but I am not sure if I can capture the way that Steve wrote.

Mrs. Campbell,
I just returned home from traveling for work for three months... i picked up your husbands series a while prior to my leaving and finished the whole series in less than two months, which is huge for me having two kids and a crazy work schedule... all i have been able to think about is reading the next addition in the series... that's why im on this website right now and how i just found out that we have lost an amazing human being in this world, who just so happens to be your husband... my heart aches for you... tears of emotion i can't even articulate run down my face. Thank you for loving him and inspiring him and helping him to inspire us.... i felt a close connection with his character gardner... which makes me feel that i had a connection with steve... from the physical to the spiritual... farewell friend.

Thank you for the information. I will check Calculated Risk to see. Steve was a wonderful very smart man. He accomplished so much and we (his daughter and myself) are so very proud of him. You can always send a note and I will answer back. Have a good one and thank you.

There is a memorial 'tile' donation over at Calculated Risk's 'hoocoodanode's comment page that I stumbled onto that included a link to the funeral memorial page. I only check CR sporadically anymore so I just ran into it yesterday. I too hope that his books continue to be popular. I admired his creative ability very much.

Hi J. No you do not have to take that down. I was just surprised that you found out about his death. I just hope that Steve's books will continue to sell so that he can still be proud!

Hi Marilyn - there were posters asking about further novels in the forums here. I posted the obit as a means to let people know nova would not be writing more novels, it sounds like you have one more yet to be published though, that's exciting. I'll miss his work. If you want me to I'll take down the obituary link.

Thank you for your condolences. I know that he is happy to have me read this and it is a comfort to know that his greatest pleasure, which is his writing, will carry on for a very long time. He is quite proud as are we of his successes with his writing.

Condolences on your loss. Steve (Nova) touched us all with his wonderful storytelling. Maybe there's some comfort in knowing he will be giving people pleasure far into the future.

Writers and musicians hold the key to the cage we are placed in while on this earth. While they exercise their craft we are freed of our bodies and our body's needs and carried away by their creation.

I will miss both Steve and the character, Gardener, he created. To have reached another soul with your creation in a positive way has to mean something good in the big scheme of things; I believe it does. Steve made my life a little better during the short time I held his books in my hands and followed him word by word into another world.

I'm certain you have a feeling of loss and you have my sympathy. Perhaps knowing his work allowed others to feel better, if even briefly, through his craft will be of some comfort to you.

I will both miss and remember him through his work.

George

Thanks, Marilyn. My very best to you in what must be a terribly difficult time. Thanks for taking a moment to post here. I only found out today, when the person above posted the obituary. I hope you will be able to publish his last works and I know his fans would be grateful, but please don't worry about that right now - take the time to get yourself and your children through this.

Mr. Cambell
After finishing the series, I think that some clarification could be used but if not, then it was a great place to end. I'd love to see more of Max's story. Maybe even going back to his time in the Marine Corps. I am curious, how did you choose the Vaquero as Gardener's weapon. I would have thought he would have at least used a 1911 pattern handgun. Not that there is anything wrong with it, as I too have fallen for the Vaquero series.

Hi Steve (Nova),

I just wanted to thank you for your book series, American Apocalypse! Although I haven't read them myself, my husband (who used not be a reader AT ALL) absolutely loves them- he just finished reading the 3rd one so I've ordered him the 4th as well as Gardener Summer and Gardener Winter. I originally purchased your first American Apocalypse book for him while he was serving with the Marine Corps in Afghanistan, as I thought it may be a genre he'd enjoy, and I was right! My husband has now become a 'reader' (he thanks entirely to your books! Keep up the fabulous work!

Kindest Regards,
Amber Lee
