Yes Ms. Morton has a new book due out in 2010, Called The Distant Hours. No plot details as yet, other then the fact that it's set during WWII in the Kentish countryside. Amazon has it down for release on April 27th 2010

I look forward to the release of Kate' Morton's new book, The Distant Hours, in November. I've read The House at Riverton twice (the second time to participate in a book club...just finished today and can't wait to hear what others have to say) and The Forgotten Garden once in print form (ordered it from the UK months before it came out in the US) and now in audio book form. The audio version is fantastic. I love the reader's voice. I keep hoping that one of Kate Morton's books will be made into a movie. I wonder who would play Grace (young and old), Hannah, Emmeline, Robbie, etc. in HR and the various characters in Forgotten Garden. For me, her novels stand out because they are so atmospheric and multi-layered, filled with mystery and a touch of the gothic. Truly transporting. I hope she writes book after book for years to come. If she continues to write, I will continue to read.

Thanks for your post, Debra. I, too, am eagerly awaiting Kate Morton's new book. And I think her books, transcribed by the right screenwriter, and properly cast and directed, would be a movie to be remembered (a la "Gone With the Wind).

What is the deal with the new book announced for an April release pushed back to November? Anyone know? I was really looking forward to the end of April, what a disappointment!

According to Kate Morton's website, The Distant Hours will be out in paperback in October in the UK. Amazon will have the hardcopy in November and you can pre-order there. There is also a description of the plot.

I actually received an email from Amazon in June saying that you could preorder her book. So, I ordered it then. But you preorder the kindle ebook, before it's out, the same way you order one. The bar that you push will say "to pre-order book" instead of " buy now with One-Click". Now that her book is out, the bar will say " Buy now with One Click". I hope that helps!

More! I need a new Kate Morton fix!
Her writing is lovely. I love the time jumping. I love how she folds everything together. I love how I can feel the characters... I forget they're not real.
(Kate if you are reading this - thank you so much.)
