Legos. Wii games or other console. Science equipment (microscope, telescope, etc.)

I agree Legos, also try Snap Circuits. Jakks Bionic Eye or Bionicam if he's into science. Nerf guns always popular. Also remote control vehicles like the Havoc Helis or Maisto Street Troopers.

Carniverous Plant Growing Craft Kit...can grow their own carniverous plants in a little dome....what 10 yr old boy wouldn't be fascinated by that.
Also, solar power is becoming big...our kids should learn more about it...but have fun with it...
OWI Frightened Grasshopper Kit - Solar Powered ...less than $5 on amazon..way cheaper than other places I've looked...and there is also the Solar Car - World's Smallest Solar Powered Car - Educational Solar Powered Toy also less than $5 on amazon.
Lava Lamp or plasma globe (you can even get plasma globes that plug into a computer usb).....at this age even boys like to have "cool" rooms.

Cyco Cycle 20-Inch Cycle
My neighbors kid has one of these Cyco Cycles and my own son has been waiting for Christmas to get one. Best deal here on Amazon! This thing really is an awesome new ride for the girl/ boy who already has a skateboard, scooter, bike. The Cyco Cycle will put a big smile on your kids (and husbands) face this Christmas!

Yes! Reading is always a great gift and with the Kindle's storage space, he can cart around an entire library of his choosing. Definitely a good gift for ANY age.

Ipad is good for most kids but if he's good with tech any galaxy tab will work better for him
