Amity Shlaes says:
Just a note to thank readers for coming to the amazon Amity Shlaes site! Some people have asked what I am recommending for additional reading on the Great Depression and the current time. One book is my CFR colleague Benn Steil's forthcoming "Money, Markets, and Sovereignty." Must reading if you want to know what might or even will happen to the dollar. I also like "The Venturesome Economy" by Amar Bhide. Innovation seems to be the one thing we are forgetting in the current plans to revive the economy.
Hardest to get but key to just about everything is "Government Project," an early 1950s book by Edward C. Banfield.

Dear Amity,
Please forgive my arrogance in not seeking your approval to use the name " Forgotten man" in a logo for today's Indy 500. It truly is intended to remind especially for a 19 year old young man from Colombia to be a positive role model for young people around the world. He is one of the forgotten man, and I think he will make you proud. The entire team is back from a very depressing may . The entire time has rallied around your book.

I saw you yesterday (8/13/10) on the Glenn Beck Show. First, when Beck was introducing you, I saw one of the brightest smiles ever! Then you disallusioned my maleness arrogance when you spoke so clearly and authoritatively with David and Glenn. My male arrogance told me that a gentle, lovely lady isn't supposed to speak like that. You were dynamite. Your messages were clear and very persuasive. Thank you so much.
You and David have sent me directly to

Would you have a recommendation for a biography on Herbert Hoover? Thanks.
