Can I use this router's vpn capabilities for secure browsing without any of its local computers active (i.e., router itself is sufficient)?

Thanks! I'm good to go. The best thing I found was the asuswrt-merlin firmware, which has an OpenVPN implementation. Thanks again for taking time to answer my question.
